<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm not huge on that song, but you gave me a great idea with the playlist.

You ever heard "Cymbaline" by Pink Floyd? Me and my brother used to wake up to that every morning in the summer. It's about nightmares or something, but we just loved the chorus... "It's hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggh time, cymbaline." Lol, in our interpretation, it was a song about getting high...</div>
I don't know what it is about that song. I know that, musically and even lyrically, it isn't their greatest work. But for some reason I couldn't stop playing it.

Is that song one of their singles? I've listened to all their studio albums, but have yet to download their singles.

Off the top of my head, some of the songs that I want to put in this playlist are "House of the Rising Sun" (The Animals), "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)" (Jimi Hendrix), "War Pigs" (Black Sabbath), "Showdown" (Electric Light Orchestra), "I'm Only Sleeping" (The Beatles), "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" (Pink Floyd), and like three or four Led Zeppelin songs ("Babe I'm Gonna Leave You", "Stairway to Heaven", "No Quarter, ""Achilles Last Stand"). There's probably more, but I'll have to go through my mp3 player to find them.

My neighbor said Rakim is a bad rapper.

The only reason he thinks Rakim is crap is probably because his cousin hates Rakim. And he always has the same rap views as his cousin as it is the "cool" thing to do.
ugh.gif
He hates "Paid in Full" and "Follow the Leader".

I been listening to a lot of Incubus lately.

Making chicken tenders from COSTCO, those shits are bomb.

Incubus is amazingly underrated (**** off ahead of time, M and Sasha
wink.gif
).

Their newer stuff isn't half as good as their work from the mid-90's though.

How do you make chicken tenders? Buy them frozen and then cook them?

When I get tenders, I get them from a local chicken place called Mr. P's that sells them cheap, and then I make my own buffalo sauce. I don't cook, but when it comes to any kind of chicken (fried, wings, tenders, etc.), I'm your man. It's a southern thing I guess.

Tyson breaded chicken tenderloins from COSTCO, a big bag for like..$7. They're good if you know how to cook em, I like mine kind of crispy..so I broil em for like 3 mins on each side after cooking them.

I go to COSTCO all the time, it's amazing. I do some cooking, but more beef related, I dont cook pork. It's a Jewish thing I guess.

He doesn't, but I think his cousin might. Do you post rap reviews Dream, I would love make him read it.

I made a couple at epinions a few years back, but they're not that good....I actually might start writing a hip hop review each week of new and old music and then I'll post them here....

Why not just in the Hip-Hop forum creat a Thread called Rap Reviews, so anyone can write a review, and some people talk about them.

Can you make a Rakim one first? I want to show this guy.

How long how long will I slide
Separate my side I don't
I don't believe it's bad
Slit my throat
It's all I ever

I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up it brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I've got to take it on the otherside

Centuries are what it meant to me
A cemetery where I marry the sea
Stranger things could never change my mind
I've got to take it on the otherside
Take it on the otherside
Take it on
Take it on

Pour my life into a paper cup
The ashtray's full and I'm spillin' my guts
She wants to know am I still a slut
I've got to take it on the otherside

Scarlet starlet and she's in my bed
A candidate for my soul mate bled
Push the trigger and pull the thread
I've got to take it on the otherside
Take it on the otherside
Take it on
Take it on

Turn me on take me for a hard ride
Burn me out leave me on the otherside
I yell and tell it that
It's not my friend
I tear it down I tear it down
And then it's born again

How long I don't believe it's bad
Slit my throat
It's all I ever

I don't know much about rock at all, but "Otherside" is one of my favourite songs.

Love that part.

Oddly enough, as much as I love the Chilis (which is a hell of a lot), that's one of my least favorite songs. Two things I love about it though - the video and the backing vocals. Frusciante's backing vocals are turned down a bit, but if you isolate them, they're beautiful. The video's sort of this German impressionistic style film that's pretty haunting, especially when the guy in the video's laying on the table and all the nurses come over him. I love that kind of art.

They've got a lot stronger songs lyrically though. Anthony Kiedis has a unique voice that's sort of something that you either love or hate, with not much in between, but his lyrics are unquestionably great, to me at least. Off the top of my head, here are some parts of their songs that I love lyrically -

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Warm Tape"

Swim for your smile
In a blue rock quarry
Make it for me baby
You won't be sorry

Miles and miles of nether worlds I roam
Settle for love you're never far from home
Carry me down into the waters of
Carry me down into the waters of love
Two of us were made of angel's dust
I've been around
But not around enough

Settle for love
Settle for love
Settle for love

"This is the Place"

This is the place where all
The junkies go
Where time gets fast
But everything gets slow

Hammers are falling
I said my darling
Shocking, appalling
All I can do to you

"Midnight"

Things will never be the same
Still I'm awfully glad I came
Resonating in the shape of things to come
Never waiting when I know there's only one

Messed it up but rest assured
No one ever thinks they're cured
Just a minute while I reinvent myself
Make it up and then I take it off the shelf

Over the laws of light
Over the moon by midnight
Let's do it all this time
Everyone wishing well we go and

Everyone knows anything goes
and now
We are the lotus kids
So better take note of this
For the story

The rising moon is on the shine
The blood of scorpio's a nine
</div>

That, and maybe 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins, are probably my two favorite songs lyrically (but don't hold me to that, there are tons of songs out there I'm forgetting).

BTW - J.J. Redick, breaking through. He had 30 points in his first summer league game, and then he went off yesterday for 17 pts (game high), 5 rbs, 6 asts (game high). For someone who's been criticized as a shoot-first, one dimensional player, that's probably the best statline I've seen from him post-Duke.

I hope Redick can be productive this year under Stan Van Gundy. He should get a couple chances to start now that Grant Hill jumped ship. It should be interesting to see if he can step up defensively because we all know what he is capable of on offense.

He is one dimensional. Like you say all the time, its Summer League so it doesn't mean jack.

I love the guy. Most college fans hated him, but that's just because of how good he was. He was a relatively short, normal looking white guy who would come in their gym and go off for 40+, which in college is just insane.

Redick is the ACC's all-time leading scorer. Think about that; that means no player in the history of Duke, UNC, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Wake Forest, Florida St., etc. scored as much as him.

He's the best shooter I've ever seen, and his form remains consistent whether he's shooting from five feet or thirty-five feet. I've always tried to model my jumper after his, ever since I saw him play as a frosh at Duke, I've tried hard to copy his form. He's Duke's all-time leading 3pt% and FT% leader for a reason.

Just check out his game log from his senior season -

Key games:

41 pts (13-24 FG), 4 rebounds, 3 steals at Texas (Gibson, Aldridge, Tucker, etc.)

41 pts (12-24 FG; 6-11 3pt), 3 assists, 2 steals at Georgetown (Green, Bowman, Hibbert, etc.)

40 pts (11-13 FG; 8-10 3pt), 4 rebounds, 2 steals vs. Virginia (Singletary, Reynolds, etc.)

He was largely a system player on Duke, scoring off of pick-and-rolls and rarely creating his own shots, but that doesn't change the fact that he's the greatest shooter to ever play the game, and it doesn't mean he can't be a productive, albeit one-dimensional, role player on the next level.

Since you love the guy so much, I think you need to become a partial Magic fan, Voodoo.

"Otherside" is my favourite RCHP song too. I'm glad someone mentioned it, because I think it'd belong on my playlist. I don't know why, but I really feel the emotion in that song.

You never realize how many homeless people there are in downtown Toronto, until you're rushing for a train you're late for and you accidentally knock over a can full of some dude's change. I felt like a total asshole, so I picked it all up for him and gave him a loonie. Missed my train, though.

How does everyone here deal with homeless people asking for change? I usually keep anything under 25 cents in my pockets to just give away.

Man, I feel like such a perve. On my way home from the job interview this morning, I couldnt be bothered waiting for the bus, and there is this long main road that runs by the workplace, and just below it is the river and a bike track. It's a sunny day, so I decided to walk to a bus stop which is about 1.5km away or so, get some excercise, take in the sights etc. on my way. Well I'm about 500m down the track when this girl comes onto the the track just infront of me, wearing tight lycra jogging pants, she had such a great f'n ass, so for the next 1km I was just walking along this track staring at this chicks ass the whole way, lol
