Whatever happened to the "I am highly intoxicated" thread? I guess we wouldn't have it on a Tuesday's very often but still, it needs to be created. Last night I was as drunk as I've ever been, possibly drunker than I've ever been. I passed out under my friends drum set then again later on in his bathroom. Threw up at like 3 in the morning and I feel fine now. Greatest benefit of being an irish bastard- no hangovers. I'll probably do it again tonight. Met some chick last night and said she wanted to chill tonight, had a big nose but w/e, I can't remember her name though.

Minimum wage here in Calgary is about $7.50CND. If I do get the job I'll be making around $8.50CND I believe.

I got the job, and the hourly rate is ?6.50, which is US$13.10. 4 weeks and 2 days, which will get me ?858 (US$1730).

^The reason we have higher minimum wages is because the cost of living is higher. For example, a Big Mac Meal at McDonalds costs around ?4 ($8.06). I have no idea how much a Big Mac Meal costs in America but I'd be suprised if its more than $8.06.

I need a job too. I'm applying at Lowe's and this supply warehouse. I'm doing community service for the next week or so though for court and that pays 8 dollars an hour, so I should be able to get enough to pay my phone bill.

OMG I am so pissed at Tim Hortons right now.

So anyways I handed in my application on Monday. This morning I called them to follow up on my application and see if they reviewed my resume/application. Anyways so I call them and I say to the girl who answers

Me: "Hi I'm calling to follow up an application that I handed in on July the 2nd. I was wondering if anybody got a chance to review my application and resume?"
Her: "The owner's not in right now, you can call back later."
Me: "Oh okay, what time will you be expecting him in?"
Her: "In the afternoon"
Me: "Alright thanks I'll call back then!" *Hang Up*

So I call back later in the afternoon and I'm expecting that someone new is going to answer so I open up by saying the same thing I did in the first conversation.

Me: "Hi I'm calling to follow up an application that I handed in on July the 2nd. I was wondering if anybody got a chance to review my application and resume?"
It turns out its the same girl from before but this time she sounds annoyed and pissed.
Her: "Yes okay, he's not hear and he's not hiring right now call later"
Me: "Oh he's not? Okay I'll call again"

This pisses me the hell of because:

1) She's the one who said to call back in the afternoon and so I did and yet shes the one who's pissed for no apparent reason.

2) She says he's not there but yet she says he's not hiring? How can she say he's not hiring when he's not even there?

3) Workers are not actually allowed to tell people/customers if they're hiring or not, the only person that can say if they're hiring or not is the store owner.

Basically what I'm going to do is call back later, talk to the manager tell him what this stupid girl said to me, and then hopefully she gets fired and I take her spot LOL!

Go apply other places, that simple.

Complaining could help. If that girl is pisses off customers like that whenever she answers the phone, thats an issue to the store. I was joking about her getting fired and me taking her spot thing, but she could get into some shiz if people complain about her.

How do you know people complain about her though? I've had plenty of jobs, and I'm just speaking from personal experience, most of the time when you get one customer complaint, the manager looks the other way.

I don't know, do what you think is right, but trying to sabotage her? C'mon, is it worth it?

Nah I'm not trying to sabatoge her I just want to let the manager know how she's treating her customers. It's not like I was rude to her or anything, but the way she reacted was unnecessary. But I see where you're coming from, but I'm not taking any of this too seriously. I'll probably just end up applying somewhere else.

How old are you? If you're over 18+ try to get a job at Starbucks, they treat their employees like GOLD. I get a free pound of coffee a week, free drinks, 30% off, tips, good pay, and after a year or something like that, they'll pay for a good portion of your schooling.

Oh, wow...I don't know about Canada...but out here in California, it's almost impossible to get a real job at 14. At 14 I cut lawns, I made bank, too.

Its not hard to find a job here when you're 14... its just hard to find a GOOD one. Most places around here that take 14 year olds are fast food places like McDonalds and A&W. If I really get desperate I'll probably just apply at a fast food place, I just really wanna make some money this summer instead of sitting at home on the computer doing nothing.

Anyone else having a lonely 4th of July?

I'm stuck at home feeling bad while everyone I know is out partying. It's getting to me more mentally than physically.

Everyone on my street who I usually hang with and shoot off fire works is out of town or has moved too.

The family behind me is moving out because the parents split, and for some reason that's hitting me hard. It's like the neighborhood's breaking up, because they were a lively family with lots of kids, including a girl my age that I hung out with and always sorta had a crush on growing up.

Like Jimi said, lonliness is such a drag.

Well I had my job interview this morning, the place seems kind of boring, theres alot to learn, and it sounds pretty full on (lots of work), the pay isnt that great either, at about $485 a week. I started off on a bad note too, when the guy asked me to fill out a maths equation for me (I really suck at Maths), was ok adding up all the costs, but then I had to remove and add percentages which I'm terrible at, lol. Oh well, I dont really care if I get it or not anyway.

I can relate right now. I like to be alone most of the time though as I was the majority of my life basically by choice. I've never been a partier, so it suits me. However, ever since I met my fianc?e, these last near six years we've been together I can't find myself being without her. I hate being apart when we have to be. Oh well, I have so much crap to do within two months time and plenty of music to create and listen to.

Full time job, 40 hours a week. It was just one I applied for on the internet, it is at a Jewelry Supply outlet, they specialize in all the equipment for jewelers. There is just a sh*tload of stuff to learn which they said makes it sort of difficult. Thr job itself was just starting out picking/packing orders etc. but eventually move onto showroom sales and phone work. $485 a week for that is pretty poor, I was expecting at least around $600 a week.

I might be moving out of home soon too, one of my friends and her boyfriend want me to move in with them and their 2 housemates. I'm looking at trying to get a job at the Lab they work in, as its literally a 2 minute walk from their house, and I'd be able to work night shift which is like double rates or somthing I think. It's like $1400 a fortnight or somthing like that.

Hahahaha, nah I dont have a degree in anything. I didnt go to university, but I can pursue a Cert 3 or 4 in certain fields through TAFE. Over here you can get by fairly comfortabley on an Admin or Warehousing type job, unlike over there where from what I understand if you dont have a degree in somthing, you're basically f***ed.

I've also got a 4 Week temp job coming up in a couple of weeks doing standard Admin work. The work is boring but it pays well.
