...I've been hearing this "bidding war" reference for awhile now and sorry, but I just don't get it...I mean, aren't most all FA signings bidding wars?...you have to outbid another team/s in order to sign them. Texas and Boston are already good teams and I don't think allow them to get even stronger while the Yanx fail to drastically improve the catcher's position is an option.

...if the Yanx are gonna over pay anyway for a catcher, I'd much rather overpay for McCann...Salty is iffy defensively, can't hit LHed pitching if his life depended on it, strikes out more than he should, and I think his career year of 2013 is not consistent with his career numbers.

Salty really isnt very good. I mean anyone is an upgrade over last year, but he's not very good on either side of the ball. Just another high K guy with power potential and not much else.

But McCann stands to cost a fortune, so its good buisness to have back up plans in place.

Those were Matt Vasgersians comments on MLB yesterday, and I don't necessarily agree with the I think Vasgersian was hyping the players potential value. I'd like to see the Yankees bring in some quality to the team but spend wisely doing so.

Who would you consider a viable option then as primary and alternate? I would assume the Yankees are making McCann their #1 targeted catcher, but with as many other teams that are being reported as being interested, who would your back-up plan be? McCann, IMO, is the best of the ones on the list... other possibilities would be Salty, AJ, Suzuki, or Navarro? None of which are great options really... Maybe AJ for a 1 or 2 year deal hoping beyond hope that Sanchez is ready? But seriously, who would you suggest they go after? (primary and back-up)

...we already know that Salty won't take 2 years/$20 Mil, so it's gonna take more years and/or more money to land him. And like I said, if they are gonna over spend on a catcher, let it be McCann. If not McCann, I'd rather go with AJ on a one year deal and in the meantime, hope one of the Yanx young catching prospects pans out.
