Usually they can tell it's legit just from glancing at it. Yes.

If Ujiri attacks a police officer then it should be the officer's duty to arrest him and let the judicial system punish him. Instead he tries to fight Ujiri. In this particular example there is nobody's life in danger. An officer needs to learn that it's his job to keep the peace not become part of the incident. Far too often I see officers react in a way that they think they can do whatever they want because they have a badge.

Cops stopped being "peace officers" or "peace keepers" long ago. They have mutated into a paramilitary organization that acts like an army of occupation in a community they no longer identify with or have any empathy for.

Time & situation are important in the context too.
If things are calm, it's much easier to take note and notice the credentials.

This was immediately after the game with lots of commotion occurring. That creates a high stress situation for the security team.... it's tough to compare it to a 'normal' situation.

We've been hearing about this. Supposedly being in Washington is a draw for Ujiri who has stuff going on with Giants of Africa/Basketball Without Borders and other endeavours that involve politics and gladhanding. But he won't leave for money.

When he is walking down the tunnel he is only holding the lanyard part and the credentials are dangling down, fully visible. They are in the exact same position in a photograph I saw when he and Lowry walk away from the incident.

And I've had a recent conversation with a Sheriff Deputy who told me that it's difficult these days to even find and hire new Deputies who can pass the rigorous background check the Sheriff's Office requires. His biggest problem: No one wants to be a cop anymore (Except for a lot of people who shouldn't be).

There should be a degree program then. This is not hard. Being a cop should require a 4 year degree.

THEN PAY THEM... 80K+ to start.

They will do stupid things like this a LOT less.

This is the shit I'm talking about. A call for a shoplifting incident doesn't call for the cops to run in guns drawn like it's the fucking OK Corral. Plus their screaming isn't helping to keep the situation under control. The fucking cops are the ones making a controllable situation completely chaotic.

It’s pretty simple. Your credential is supposed to be visible at ALL times, no questions asked. I literally just just got stopped here at work because my pass was like this

After Dame’s game winner against OKC, NBA security was in our TV truck wanting to see who the two people were who jumped out in the court and celebrated with Dame. I mentioned to them that it was his brother and sister.....he wanted to know how I knew, but believed us and let it go. He still had to file a report with the league and contact the team about it.

21 weeks MAYBE (OR is 16) is the police academy. You don't get rid of your racism in that short of a time...
