Rasheed Wallace working out at NYK practice facility

he's fucking old

So are Kurt and Camby.... If they can still be in the league, I see no reason Sheed couldn't be. Also, if he makes the Knicks they will have a front court of ancient Blazers. They are like the geriatric Timberwolves.

I forget what nagging injury Wallace was dealing with his final year in Boston... was it a knee?

Wallace took the path of Chris Webber and Antoine Walker, and several other aging PF's at the end of his career... he became a mid-range jump shooter that could be useful offensively, in limited pick-and-pop situations. That's something that he can still probably do at his age, and sadly for the Knicks, they'd probably welcome that.

(Does anyone else get annoyed by the New York/east coast media over hyping the Knicks? I just saw that Tyson Chandler was ranked as a top 25 player in ESPN's NBA Rank. These were the same northeastern media members that voted him Defensive Player of the Year, while the coaches left him off the All-Defensive Team entirely, when they had the chance to vote.)

That's interesting. When the Celtics put Wallace and Garnett together on the same team, I expected Wallace to give Garnett a real run for his money over earning minutes. But it was no contest, which surprised me, and then Sheed died gently into the night and quietly retired.

file this under "who gives a fuck" sub section "not me"

The Knicks are the retirement home of the NBA.

*Kidd - 39
*Camby - 38
*Thomas - 39
*Prigioni - 35
**Sheed - 37

He was hurt. That's why he didn't challenge for minutes. He was playing hurt pretty much the majority of the season.

No, it was his brain. He sprained it early in his career and never recovered.

check the scoreboard Shooter!

Do I have to be the one to post the "Who gives a shit about Sheed, he hasn't been a Blazers in XX years" post that used to accompany any Sheed thread not posted OT?

Where is Ed O when we need him?

Rasheed Wallace had one of the greatest playoff brain cramps, leaving a sizzling Horry wide open at the 3-point line while he doubled Ginobili in the corner . . .

Wallace's description of the play was even more baffling. "I decided to double Tim Duncan down low, but [Horry] got the ball back and knocked down the shot."

Huh?

Memo to 'Sheed: That was Manu Ginobili you doubled, not Duncan. In the corner, not down low. And in doing so, you left open one of the most fearsome clutch shooters in playoff history – as you ought to remember from your experiences with the Trail Blazers in the 2000 Western Conference finals.

As a result, Wallace's reputation as a flake has new life ...

Who cares about Ed O, he hasn't been on the board in XX years?

I don't know if anyone caught this, but Bomani Jones did a podcast on Rasheed Wallace and the Knicks that was pretty entertaining -

[video=youtube;n0C2Hhq62w8]

This man deserves his own show. He does two podcasts: one every Monday on his website, from his house, and the other two days a week for SB Nation on YouTube.

Bomani gesticulates his head just like Gary Payton.

...it sounds like it's nearly official! Welcome back to the NBA Sheed, good luck in NYC!

Veteran forward Rasheed Wallace has informed the New York Knicks that he will come out of retirement to play for the team this season, according to a league source.

Wallace first worked out for the Knicks last Saturday and had been contemplating a return in recent days.

The 15-year veteran retired after the 2009-10 season, which he spent with the Boston Celtics.

Wallace has not yet signed a deal, according to a team source. But the Knicks expect him at training camp, barring something unforeseen between now and the first day of camp Tuesday.

Wallace took a physical with the team late last week and has been working out at the Knicks' facility for most of the last week.

The New York Post reported on Saturday that Wallace would join the team on Monday.

Felton
Camby
Wallace

One former Blazer is fat and lazy, and the other two are way past being productive NBA players.

NYK could be a trainwreck this year.

4 out of 5 of those guys don't even know how to spell defense. I'd hope at their payroll and having 3 Team USA players still in their 20s that they can make the playoffs, though. Aim high!!

Yawn...

The last time Sheed had a PER > 15 was five years ago. He's irrelevant.

Thomas will be 40 day after tomorrow.

What are the odds those five will make it though the season without any significant injuries?

What are the odds it will matter?

Sheed for three!

He has the lift of a 36 y/o Sabas.

Btw, the Knicks are officially the oldest team in NBA history.

As AWB would say....

CTC!! ;)

I think the Knicks should lure Magic and Kareem out of retirement to fill out their geriatric roster. Then they can be Slowtime instead of Showtime.

Only problem is the current version of Magic would still be more up-tempo and in better shape than Felton.
