I actually thought he was pretty good in the film. I hated him on the vma's but he played his character well in the movie.

Yeah the MTV show he hosts in Europe does him much more justice, that's why he even got a shot at the vma's in the first place.

If you ever find his interview with Conan O'Brien this year, you should check it out because it was epic.

Agree. IIRC his character was totally different in the original screenplay that Jason Segel wrote but after they found Brand they re-wrote the part for him and it worked very well.

United States of Leland - 8/10
American Beauty - 8.5/10
The Life of David Gale - 7/10
The Untouchables - 6/10
Sweeney Todd - 8/10

I keep seeing everyone like City of God, but I can't get myself to watch it. The plot doesn't interest for some reason.

Yea, my bro told me about it 2 years ago. When I heard I had to read subtitles, I put it off. I downloaded it after reading RunBJM's post and finally got around to watching it a few weeks ago. The subtitles kind of made the movie better, especially since there isn't too much reading. It's definitely in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Highly recommended.

I remember that movie. It was shot in Austin, and at UT. Good movie.

What's Sweeney Todd about?

Sweeney Todd is a musical directed by Tim Burton starring Johnny Depp. It's a fantastic movie. Depp plays a barber getting his revenge on the citizens of London. Check out the imdb page for the movie. Fantastic movie. I'm not big on musicals, but loved this one.

I watched "Goodfellas" today. It's about 90% based on a true story, story of Henry Hill's life in the mafia.
Problaby my new absolute favourite movie (since I love mafia related movies). Acting was great.

11/10, it's a must-see for everyone.

Yep. Its my favorite movie of all time as well (City of God is #2), can't believe how many people haven't seen it.

I thought it was just ok. Obviously I'm not a big fan of musicals but I'm not a Tim Burton fan either. Big Fish was great and Edward Scissorhands was solid but outside of that I'm completely uninterested in everything else from him.

I haven't seen Edward Scissorhands. Is it good?

Its ok. I'd probably give it a 7.5/10.

BTW check out Kevin Smith's rant/story on Tim Burton:

Its from An Evening With Kevin Smith or An Evening With Kevin Smith: Evening Harder. Both are fucking fantastic Q&A sessions where he goes to colleges and answers questions and tells stories. Its very funny and very entertaining, especially if you're a fan of his movies.

Yeah, City of God was also a fantastic movie. I guess you've seen American Gangster also !? I really liked that one, too. Since it was also based on a true story and Denzel Washington was like made to play Frank Lucas, amazing acting imo. ;D

I'm kind of a movie freak, just watched "Never Back Down", wasn't bad at all. Although I almost knew from the beginning how the movie would end.

Yeah I've seen American Gangster too. It was good but not great. Kind of dragged on at times but overall a very nice movie. If you like Goodfellas I'd recommend more Martin Scorcese movies. The Departed is one of my favorite movies of all time as well, Casino is very Goodfellas-esque, plus Raging Bull and Taxi Driver are classics.

I don't claim to be a big film buff but I do love movies. I'm taking a films class right now and its pretty fun, I'm gonna continue to take more of them because its the only thing that interests me in school. My dream job would be to be a screenwriter/movie producer. I hope I can make the film major here and take those classes and I'd probably even take drama or acting even though I don't want to be an actor at all. I just can't get enough film knowledge.

Jealous Mamba? We should talk about it over one of your delicious home-made venti mocha decaf frappuchinos. :drinkapint:

Or we can sulk over our teams being pathetic in the AFC West while we drink some whiskey!

Lol. I've been over the football season for a few weeks now. My focus is on basketball starting on Wednesday!

Yeah, I'm starting to shift my focus to Laker basketball. I can't wait to see Bynum dunk on Turiaf.

Gladiator - 9/10. One of my favorites.

Hey that's cool. I'm planning on majoring in Film when I go to college next year, hopefully do a lot of hands on stuff, working with cameras, editing, all that stuff.

Last movie I saw...

Cool movie. 8/10

I liked Planet Terror more than Deathproof. They were both entertaining though.

Yeah I agree. Death Proof got a little boring with the girl's dialogue while not really any slow parts in Planet Terror.

I saw "Burn After Reading" today, the acting was terrific, but my expectations on that movie very much bigger, 6/10.

I also watched "In Her Shoes" (yeah it was a romance comedy) there was great casting in that movie and it wasn't bad at all, 7.5/10.

SAW V

7/10

Not as good as I or II but still good. Getting a little Samey at the moment though IMO

Speedracer - 4/10 the racing scenes were hard to watch at times. My little sister liked it.
