^ lol I agree except for 3 movies. Anyone see Bewitched? man I hated that movie.

I don't know why I laughed so hard at Step Brothers. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone and I doubt I'll ever find it as amusing if I watch it again. I guess I must've been in the mood for a stupid comedy.

I think everyone here is just overthinking it. Its become cool to hate Will Ferrell these days so people have that bias going into it. Then they see the stupid jokes and tell thmeselves they aren't funny. IMO if you go in not expecting anything it is really fuckin funny. Or maybe I'm just really immature. Either way everyone in the theater was balling when I went, I was with a group of like 15 people and everyone thought it was hilarious.

I mean why would you even watch the movie if you think "every single one of his movies are terrible". If its not your cup of tea DON'T FUCKING WATCH IT.

I actually thought John C. Reilly was funnier than Ferrell, but yea I agree with what you're saying.

Step Brothers (Saw it twice) 9/10. I don't know how you guys didn't think it was funny. What did you expect from Will and John? It's basically like Ricky Bobby and it was hilarious. I loved when the guy went "PAH!". And "The ****ing Catalina Wine Mixer". I thought it was just fine. It was what I expected.

Boats n' Hoes was one of the funnier music videos I've ever seen.

Boatz N' Hoez!!!! I loved that too.

Cell phones, suits and black leather gloves! Everything you need!

C'mon dad, just forget what happened and give us 10,000 dollars!

Heh, I'll rent it one day then, you convinced me to take a look at it myself at least. You better not be wrong man... :[

7.5/10

Pretty funny. My friend made it sound like it was gonna suck. He loved Superbad, and I thought that movie was decent. I liked Pineapple express better. Superbad didn't have much of a plot, but it had it's moments.

So far from what I've heard...

Superbad > Knocked Up > Pineapple Express

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Black Mamba @ Aug 7 2008, 02:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>So far from what I've heard...

PE > SB > KU imo

They were all funny, and better than the crappy comedies Hollywood usually puts out.

James Franco was surprisingly funny. I thought this movie was going to suck from the commercials.

Haven't seen PE yet but I didn't think Knocked up was that good. Super Bad was good, not epicly great like many made it out to be though.

40 Year Old Virgin > all of them.

Agreed, 40 Year Old Virgin was definitely my favorite. Except at one point, it feels like it drags on a bit...and then it picks right up, and gets awesome again.

I saw Dark Knight last night and saw nothing special about it.

Just saw Tropic Thunder. Movie was hysterical. Probably the 3rd funniest movie of the year behind Zohan and Get Smart. I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Hmm...

Wicked Little Things - 4/10 - Me and my friend love watching terribly retarded scary movies on SciFi, and this sure didn't disappoint. It was so dumb, it was enjoyable. The killing scenes were pretty awesome, though. Have to give the movie credit for that.

Silent Hill - 6/10 - It started out pretty cool, but as the movie progressed, it got worse and worse...up until the retarded ending, and the after-ending that made no sense. Yay.

40 year old Virgin was good, but it was a hidden chick flick.

Tropic Thunder=8.5/10

Kirk Lazarus: [to Tugg Speedman] Huh! What do you mean "You People?"
Alpa Chino: [stares at Lazarus, and then gets angry] What do you mean "You People?"
Kirk Lazarus: What?

-----

Tugg Speedman: Wait, guys, are you telling me you're giving up on the movie? I thought we were supposed to be a team, a unit.
Kirk Lazarus: Suck my unit.

Arguably the funniest movie of the 2000's. Definitely should be considered one of the best comedies of the 2000's at least.

I was very surprised by this movie. It good throughout. Kept me entertained, kept me into it. I still can't stand Josh Hartnett.

Heath did a good job, especially for a kid his age, but the villian always gets the best material in these sorts of movies. I was thinking more about the plot, which was very derivative, predictable, and generally boring. The entire movie was telegraphed from the very beginning. It had all the typical mythical elements, but they were so completely undisguised and as subtle as a sledgehammer--I'm referring to the arcs of all the major characters, the path of the hero's journey, etc. There were absolutely no surprises.

I can differentiate between recognizing a good performance by a particular actor, and a good movie. This movie was just so unspectacular, that I literally remember almost nothing about it, and I saw it less than ten days ago--the day before I wrote that post.

I agree. Tropic Thunder was brilliant. The only downside was that it was often hard to understand what Downey was saying.

Yeah just got back from seeing Tropic Thunder, which was pretty damn funny. 4 stars from me.

Tropic Thunder (9/10) - Such a funny movie, nonstop laughter and alot of jokes everywhere. Just great.

Moulin Rouge (10/10) - I just really like this movie, I've seen it multiple times and just, it's gripping. The singing is great too, unlike how Mamma Mia had a tone deaf Pierce Bronsan singing....

Dark Knight (10/10) - Without nitpicking, this movie was brilliant. I've seen it multiple times and everytime I see the Joker I get chills. Just played brilliantly.

In Bruges
(9 out of 10)

Starring
Colin Farrell
Brendan Gleeson
Ralph Fiennes

inbrugesposterjp8.jpg

An absolutely fucking brilliant film. I was so surprised to see Colin Farrell in this because he's usually starring in crap films. In any case, the story is well-written and will surprise many people at how entertaining it is all-around. A hilarious bloody gangster-style film.

Ray (Colin Farrell) and his senior colleague Ken (Brendan Gleeson) are sent to the quaint Belgian city of Bruges by their high-strung, foulmouthed employer Harry (Ralph Fiennes), and told to await further instructions. While Ken takes in the sights and historic medieval buildings, Ray is morose and withdrawn, disgruntled with the lack of local nightlife.

If I wrote any more about the story it would ruin the experience you could have with this film that I had. Easily one of my favorite films and a huge feature-length film debut surprise by Oscar winner writer/director Martin McDonagh. I highly recommend In Bruges to everyone, though be aware it has moments of extreme violence and plenty of swearing.

Here are some clips.

7/10. Decent movie.

9/10. So friggen great I can't even express it. Its extremely endearing- by the time I finished the first 3 episodes I literally couldn't stop watching. Captures the true essence of being in high school with all of the downs, the few ups, and the chronic awkwardness.

Just seen "you don't mess with the Zohan". Wasn't expecting much in the way of Groundbreaking films but i was pleasantly surprised. Adam Sandler was really funny as Zohan and i laughed pretty much all the way through.

Just put In Bruges up near the top of my Netflix queue.

8/10. I thought it was a good movie overall but didn't think it was as epic as its made out to be. Probably lost a lot of its luster because I'm so detached from the Vietnam War. I'm sure if I was around closer to the time of Vietnam it would hit me a little harder though. It was better than Heart of Darkness but I hated that book lol.
