I will say this: Dame wants to be the greatest Blazer ever, and in my opinion he is neck-and-neck with that traitor Drexler for 2nd place. But Bill Walton either got lucky with the right team and the right coach and won a chip in '77, or had perhaps the greatest, most dominate stretch between Fall of 76 and Spring of 78 an NBA Center ever had (probably some of both).. but Walton has three things Dame doesnt have and might need to take the mantle from the Redhead Hippie: a ring, a league MVP, and a Finals MVP. I didnt have a problem with Drexler chasing a ring he gave everything he had to Portland when he was here and left in the twilight of his career.
I do not think Dame will get League MVP just because there are a few players better then him in the league and we all know it is about who sells the most jerseys then it is about being the most valuable player. If the Blazer organization cant get the players around him to win or don't try then I could see him leaving. As it stands right now that does not look like the case. He will just have to settle for finals MVP.
What should have been reported on is the fact that this is the end of our rebuild years from when Lamucus, and Matthews left and how he took a team that should have been a cellar/lottery team for 4 years and forced it to win. That is what should have been reported on for years but no one has even made a peep about it.
