Re-signing Nurkic should be #1 on Blazers agenda

Respect your view. Actually, Cleveland only has hope in the Cavs. I still can't recognize the absurd money and actual playing time equal.

You could if you'd stop comparing it to money that normal folk make. :dunno:

Answer this:

How much are the Cleveland Cavaliers worth:

With Lebron:

Without Lebron:

Go!

There's much more than a $16 million dollar difference...

I actually posted the answers earlier in this thread:

$1 Billion with LeBron

$500 Million without LeBron

Difference = $500 million

https://nypost.com/2014/07/11/cavaliers-double-in-value-with-lebron-past-1-billion-mark/

His return to Cleveland also generated another $500 million for the local economy.

He's the second highest ($33,285,709) paid player in the league, but also the biggest bargain, by far.

I said Absurd money and Playing time so that is a direct correlation to actual worth. What other way is there to compare than to assess your own daily grind to a players luxury life style?
If I compare sport to sport then Hockey players are worth more and do get paid less.

According to a reddit, the Bosnian basketball federation president gave an interview and said that Nurkic will not be playing for them and that he already has a deal in place (presumably with Portland) and is just waiting until July 1st to sign.

Another Bosnian redditor mentions that Bosnian media is reporting Nurkic has a verbal agreement wih Portland, and doesn’t want to risk injury until he signs July 1st, after which he will play for Bosnia in the summer.

That can only be Portland, because other Teams are not allowed to Talk to other free Agents. Hopefully it will be a Team Friendly Contract. Something between 10-13 million

Hopefully the scuttlebutt is true. I was excited to read the post above. The money will be well north of 10 - 13 mil. per IMO. But if he develops the way I think he will, it will be well worth it.

This may be our biggest transaction of the season, so enjoy it while you can. It's not every day that a GM re-signs his own player. Olshey is a roller coaster of wonderful, exciting roster developments.

Yes, you're right. Rather than risk boring you by resigning his own player, Neil should just let Nurk walk for nothing. That would certainly liven this place up.

Verbal agreements don't mean much these days. Did thely spit & shake on it?

My guess on Nurkic is he signs a team friendly contract (10m per) and in return gets a player option.

seems low but I'd love that, my guess/hope is 12-14 mil per, if he goes low then yeah give him a PO, if we go higher then make it a team option, Olshey besides overpaying in the horrid summer of 16 made another bad blunder by not making the contracts of Hark/Turner/Leonard have team options in the 4th yr, if you are going to overpay at least demand that!

Just make sure you have enough left over to bring back Ed Davis.

My number was just an optimistic guess. 12-14 seems more realistic and would still be a bargain.

Still reppin the set.

Sidenote: that’s a conditioning coach from Oregon on the right Nurk has out with him in Europe. He helped Lillard last offseason (boxing, etc) and Nurk mentioned in his exit interview he wanted to keep developing his body/conditioning.

This article says the Blazers are going to wait to see what offers Nurk gets and then match:

https://www.blazersedge.com/platfor...cy-jusuf-nurkic-portland-trail-blazers-status

That’s reasonable. I don’t think he will be getting very high or max offers from anybody. If he doesn’t accept anything from anyone for several days then maybe sit down and offer him something reasonable to avoid having him take QO.

The bigger concern may be that if he doesn’t get a big enough offer he could decide to negotiate with a European team.

OK, I guess. This may work in the team's favor. Nurk knows the Blazers want to keep him. But he also knows he has to continue to develop his game. It will all workout IMO.
