Is Nate the right coach for this team? All loyalty and love aside. Although I am sure most of you don't like Nate. Do we really need a new coach for this team? Who would be a better coach? Can you imagine this team with D'Antoni?

Who else would be a good coach for this team? Maybe we don't need any new players, we just need a new coach.

McMillan has taken the Blazers from 21 wins, to 32, to 41, and then 54 last year.

Yeah, you're right. He's a bum. Get him out of here.

no Nate does fine. And although I'd like to see a little bit more fire from him yelling at refs next year, that's really all I want from him.

Damnit! NO MORE WHITE PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!

How's the weather in Portland cdub?

I bash on Nate all the time, but he's not a bad coach in reality. I just don't think he is the right coach for this team any longer. I don't think he utilizes his players strengths very well. I think he gets too comfortable with certain players. I don't think he is the best X's and O's coach.

I think at this point we might need a coach who doesn't need to be so hands on, or micromanaging. Nate was great for instilling toughness and discipline, but now a coach like Jackson or Adelman that can bring a system to Portland might be better. Drill it into them and then, like they do, just get out of the way.

D'Antoni would not be a good fit though.

I think Nate is a terrific coach, I just wish he was a little more flexable or dynamic with his offense. Slow, slow and more slow. :tsktsk:

I think Nate is the perfect coach at the perfect time for this team. I think that Brandon and Lamarcus agree with me. I think Kevin Pritchard agrees with me. I think Paul Allen agrees with me. Hell, I even think that Channing Frye agrees with me. +11, +9, and +13 all agree with me.

Nate will win one ring in Portland, at the very least.

And Wheels agrees with you.

Care to wager on the "Nate will win one ring in Portland, at the very least" Wook?

And I know that at least two of those people you mentioned does not agree with you by the way.

2 of those mentioned? I am pretty sure Frye is one of them, I'm curious to who the other is.

And I'll make an online wager, 2 comments repped for the winner. :D

Hah yeah it's cloudy i'm at work right now so that's why it takes me so long to respond lol.

sunny and already hot here in Hood River. dammit.

Haha rep points. Classic. You got it!

Deal! This wager is officially over when either Nate is removed as Head Coach without a championship, or he wins one here. Now we just need two witnesses to sign on this deal.

I think Nate can be the right head coach and that he is going to continue to grow as a coach just like our players will grow in their basketball evolution but I agree that I really want to see more fire out of him especially in sticking up for his players with the refs.

And not that I dislike any of our current assistant coaches but I think with Nate its all about who you surround him with as far as his staff goes.

Well since D'Antoni is currently in the middle of a 4 year contract with the Knicks, I'm curious as to whom you think we should realistically replace Nate with.

Personally I think Nate is doing a wonderful job, for reasons already posted in this thread.

Nate has done a fantastic job with this team so far - but, as always in the NBA - there is always pressure to perform next year and until you win multiple rings - there are always going to be questions.

So far - can't fault Nate, have to be impressed with what he has done so far and hope he continues the upward swing.

At the same time I would ask you, what exactly has D'Antoni done in the playoffs except repeated failure? Running teams cannot win in the playoffs. It helps to get easy buckets, but when it comes down to crunch time in a NBA playoff series, the physicality is going to increase and throw a wrench into the running game, and you have to be able to score in a half court offense in order to win. If you want to bring a running team to a slower paced game, go ahead, but it is akin to bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Your right. I was just suing D'Antoni as a running coach example and I see a lot of ppl talking about how we are a running team.

I was just using Mike as an example.

Phil Jackson should come up here and really test his coaching skills.
