OT Recalibrating Potential Targets

Honestly though that is the best time to trade players when their value is highest.
Depends on if you believe they will revert to some earlier form. Will Meyers return to MyLe? you think thats likely then you are right, trade now (or soon) but I you think Meyers has actually figured something out and will continue to perform and even grow, then even if his stock is higher than before, it would still be a bad time.

I'm sure several will grow and several will fade. pick correctly.

Kevin Love? I'd hate to lose Aminu's defense but Aminu/Meyers for Love?

Dame/CJ/Jake/Love/Nurk

Love can play some center too

Defense might be slightly worse but offense would be pretty close to Golden State's level. And Love has experience beating Golden State in the Finals.

He's not eligible to be traded until Jan 24th, two weeks before the deadline. I still don't get why Cleveland signed him to an extension this summer.

Dis Guy a Pro In Mah League. Blazers Pick Him And His Donkey Up And Day Win It All!!!!

I think we need to dump meyers so we can keep stauskas. We are going to be very close to tax threshold next year, and even pa wanted to avoid the tax.

He wanted to delay starting the repeat3r tax, not neccesarily avoid the tax for years...

As a top 5 team in the NBA, do we have glaring needs?
Saric doesn't fit in Minny, but he wouldn't fit here either.
An "upgrade on Aminu" would be basically either Draymond Green or maybe Jaylen Brown, and neither is remotely available.
Our bench is great. CJ (our prime asset for trading purposes) is our current +/- leader. So... nobody?

If I had to say anybody, I'd say target a Harkless replacement on the cheap:

Love's body is 30 going on 70. We would be losing both Aminu's defense and his durability.

Why wouldn’t Saric fit in Portland?

And what two players are you cutting in this scenario?

Not sure who Id cut, but I think come playoff time, we will need another guy who can just flat out get his when things go sideways.

Harrell is killing it this yr and a 6 mil per for this yr and next is a bargain, gonna need a LOT to get him, move on

I like Terrence Ross' game. And he's kinda wasted in ORL.

sort of a lousy 3 pt shooter and we have plenty of wing/guard types that shoot well
He's a pretty decent volume 3pt shooter and has been a target of defenses for a while. If he's taking those open 3's that Aminu's taking right now...wow. Don't get me wrong...if Chief can keep hitting wide-open 3s at a 34% clip I'm ok with it. Not awesome, not horrible. But that's a little bit like saying Dame only shoots 38%, which isn't that much better than Aminu. It's one thing to do it with a constant defensive presence on you (though Ross isn't doubled nearly as much as Dame), and another when you're getting wide-open looks.

Aminu gets the most wide-open '3's in the NBA. 34% while not bad, is not very good for the types of shots he gets. If Brook Lopez can go from Brick City to how he shoots now, Aminu should be better.

Any chance we could screw the Celtics out of some of players or picks (which they have a lot of) right now. Their fans are near apocalyptic given that they "had a window of opportunity." And it appears shut right now. Maybe Ainge is feeling hot under the collar?

Otto Porter is the one guy that may be attainable. The Wizards are a complete mess. He's also the one guy that could vault this team out of purgatory. A career 40 3pt% shooter with a skillset that would thrive in this system.

He’d also cost a lot, despite his contract. I mean if we could get him for a Harkless/Leonard/pick package, great. I doubt it though. Oubre is more attainable imo. We could take him on without having to send any money back (wizards are in the luxury tax) and I think our pick might be enough, especially since he’s going to need to be paid next summer. Look what we got Plumlee for from Brooklyn. Oubre is in the same tier.

Oubre is playing really well despite the Wizards problems. He's on the brink of breaking out. I'd love to get him for peanuts.

Harrell would be amazing for our bench.

Harrell at PF with Collins at C, ET running the point, shooters on the outside, Harrell wreaking havoc at the trim. Yeah, I could get used to that.

He’s playing ok. He’s more flash than actual production. His PER would rank him 9th on Portland. If you look at his numbers, he’s only a slight upgrade over Layman, if not a wash.

We’d pretty much be banking on getting more out of him. Almost like a draft pick. A late first seems completely fair imo.

also only shooting 30.5% from the "3"

Weird. Everytime I was checking the box scores he was doing well. I guess he wasn't doing as well as I had thought.

Give Layman some credit. He's doing a pretty damn good job. I'd like to see a bit more aggression offensively from him though. He's playing well though.

We need to find a way to re-sign Layman. The minimum, under the table, in strip club tokens.... I don't give a shit.

What I want to see is Stotts giving him more freedom, and/or more minutes. I think he’s earned a chance. Then we can have a better sample to judge.

I like Porter Jr as well but that contract is a lot to take on. Harkless/Leonard works and not that Meyers is great, but he has been playing a better and it would leave the Blazers very thin from a big-man stand point.

Otto Porter is the most successful of the Brooklyn mega-contracts that were doled around the league in 2016, but he still is overpaid for his production and seem to have regressed this year.

This year he is giving you a healthy Moe Harkless like production for 2.5 times the cost.

That would open up a roster spot though, so we could sign a big. There is also the Vonleh Trade Exception they could use if someone was available that route. Plus they still have both two-way contracts that they could sign someone with and then just trade off having them spend their 45 days with the team. That could potentially cover a roster hole for 3 months and then they could just sign the better of the two for the rest of the season.

Ehhh, I'd say his last 12 games or so is meaningless when compared to the 164 before it...
