The red gear (current not throwback) should be our #1 road outfit and the black should be our alt.

LOVE the red. Looks ace. Best uniform in the game to be honest.

What would everyone think about home teams wearing their colors at home and white on the road like football, hockey, soccer etc?

Question A: Red or Black as #1 road uni.
Question B: White or "colors" at home.

I will send our results to Becks Harlow with a box of chocolates explaining how I'll love her forever and if she really got to know me I'm sure she'd feel the same and the more she ignores me the deeper my resolve.

I'm 100% with you on the Red-- LOVE them.

I wouldn't mind seeing the home team wear the now-away jerseys as the home jerseys all the time.

Red should be primary on the road. Agree that it is the best looking alternate uni in the league. I like white at home, but think that they should be able to choose whether to wear white or colors at home, i.e. the Cavs, who seem to have like 40 different unis for home...

Disagree. Have always liked Black better. If anything, the uni should be redesigned to be completely black. Black stripes and name on a black background.

I don't know how one could have watched the early 90s blazers and prefer the red over the black. Just brings back memories of those days!

The Zers have been around a little longer than 1992.

That being said I liked the black 1990ish lower case "blazers" font a lot.

Hate the current font. Its awful.

You can like the black but like the red better you know.

NO. :ohno:

I was actually thinking of this the other day. Dunno, the red doesn't seem as menacing on the road.

I think that may partially why I'm so fond of the red-- They've worn black they entire time I've been watching them, and the red serves as a deviation from that.

Also, red is my favorite color.

I don't really care for the red all that much. I like the ones we wore last night, but I greatly prefer black to red.

I like it how it is now. Black as the primary road jersey. Red as the alternate. White at home.

The Black unis are my favorite....The red is growing on me, but I still prefer bad ass black.

To tell the truth, they can wear pink....as long as they win.

I do like the Red Jerseys. But The Home White's are some of the most beautiful jersey's in the game IMO.

Maybe red actually helps us win?

Researchers reveal that colours worn by competitors can shape referee decisions. In 2005, evolutionary biologists Russell Hill and Robert Barton at the University of Durham, UK showed that wearing red clothing positively impacted an athlete's performance. They suggested that this was due to an association between red and dominance and/or aggression.
Psychology groups immediately started debating the idea, with some attributing the bias to differences in opponents' visibility. Now Norbert Hagemann and colleagues at the University of Münster, Germany, suggest a different possibility: the colour worn by an athlete might affect the decisions made by referees.
Seeing red

To test their theory, they showed 42 referees of the martial art taekwondo video excerpts from sparring rounds between similarly skilled athletes. In each video, one athlete wore blue protective gear and one wore red (see image, top right).
Each referee individually judged each clip, assigning points for the attacks made. They then watched the same bouts, in a different order, but this time with the colour of the protective gear digitally reversed, so that combatants wearing blue now appeared to wear red, and vice versa (see image, below right).
The team found that referees gave 13% more points to red competitors, even when the performances were exactly the same.

If it really holds true, it might amount to a point or two difference over a game. As close as NBA games are, that could be huge.

It's fucking science.

I love the red! Actually, I think the Cavs are changing their uni's next year again.

Just remember - a restraining order is just a way of saying "try harder!" :devilwink:

As for question A, I love the Black. Question B, go Red!

The Red throwbacks are definitely some of the best looking uni's in sports.

I hope they are more than just an alternative down the road. Make 'em permanent!

I love the Black for the road. Maybe it is because the NBA has a ban on black jerseys. They only allow teams that have black as a primary color to have a black jersey. There are very few. I can only think of the Blazers,Spurs and Heat that hvae a black jersey off the top of my head. It has something to do with gang prevention or something. I also love the fact that they put "Portland" on the black jersey rather than "Blazers". I love to rock the name of my city, so that is why I like that. If they put "Portland" on the red jersey that could look awesome but I think "Blazers just fits better for the red. I love all 3 jerseys (best jerseys in the NBA hands down) and think they should keep it the way it is. Its tradition. I am a huge fan of tradition.

Along the lines of tradition, I think White needs to stay the home color for the majority of games. I am all for throwing out the Red jersey (maybe for all sunday games, like it used to be) when ever and maybe wear the Black jersey once or twice. I think the team needs to look into keeping the "Rip City" jersey as an alternate so they can wear that at home also.

Did you guys know that Portland invented the alternate jersey with that red jersey? They were the first team to have a "third" jersey and used the red for Sunday games. Just fyi.

That is not true.

Just off the top o me head, Jordan's Bulls had that horrible black pinstripe number as an alternate.

EDIT:

Wiki:

In the NBA, the only team that has a third jersey as a "home jersey" and the only team in the NBA with a color jersey as an official home jersey is the Los Angeles Lakers. They now have a white jersey, in addition to their usual purple (away) and yellow (home), that is used exclusively on Sunday and holiday home games.

Other examples of third jerseys in the NBA include the Chicago Bulls, who aside from their standard white (home) and red (away) jerseys, have a black alternate jersey which is worn on the road and at home on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Bulls started wearing black alternate uniforms in the 1995-96 NBA season, the same season they won an NBA-record 72 games en route to capturing the NBA Championship. Teams in cities with rich Irish heritage celebrate St. Patrick's Day: both the Bulls and New York Knicks have special green jerseys, while the Boston Celtics use their traditional green jerseys but with gold lettering instead of the normal white. The Miami Heat have red and black away jerseys in addition to the white jerseys they wear at home. The Detroit Pistons have a red alternate jersey in addition to the traditional blue road jersey. The Orlando Magic introduced a blue road alternate jersey in the mid 1990s to accompany their white home and traditional black road jersey. A few years later, the Magic ditched their black road jersey and made the blue uniform their primary road jersey.

The Phoenix Suns have used an orange alternate jersey since the 2003-04 season, both at home and on the road. They also had a black alternate jersey during the late 1990s. The New Orleans Hornets introudced a gold alternate jersey the same season, trimmed in teal and purple, keeping with New Orleans' Mardi Gras tradition. The Hornets usually wore their gold jersey for road games, but they also wore the jersey at home for two or three games per season. For the 2008-09 season, however, the Hornets introduced new home and away uniforms, and bid farewell to the gold alternate jerseys. The Minnesota Timberwolves wear blue jerseys on the road and white jerseys at home, but from 1999-2008, they occasionally wore an alternate black jersey for road games.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have red and navy blue away jerseys. During the 2006 and 2007 NBA Playoffs, including the 2007 NBA Finals, the Cavs solely wore their navy blue jerseys at away playoff games. During the '06-'07 season the Washington Wizards began using a gold jersey in addition to their white (home) and blue (road). That same season, the New Jersey Nets started wearing red alternate uniforms for both home and away games in addition to their normal white (home) and navy blue (road). The Nets had previously worn silver alternate jerseys from 1999-2005. They solely wore these silver alternate jerseys at away playoff games during the 2002 NBA Playoffs, including the 2002 NBA Finals. The previous season (2005-06), the Sacramento Kings introduced a gold alternate to go with their traditional white and purple jerseys. In this same year, the Boston Celtics added an alternate road jersey with black trim and black text with a different style text. The Portland Trail Blazers have worn their red jerseys, previously their alternate road jerseys, as their full-time road uniforms. In the 2007-2008 season, the Indiana Pacers introduced a gold third jersey. The team previously wore a gold third jersey until the 2004-2005 season, when new uniforms were introduced.

Here are NBA teams wearing the "third jersey" through the years:

* Atlanta Hawks - wore green alternate jerseys from 1970 to 1972; black alternate jerseys from 1993 to 1995; wore yellow alternates from 2004 to 2007, red alternates since 2009. Was the first NBA team to have a third jersey.
* Boston Celtics - wear black/green third jerseys since 2005; also have a gold/green jersey exclusively worn on St. Patrick's Day week.
* Charlotte Bobcats - blue alternates from 2006 to 2009; another blue alternate with a checkered flag design is used for NASCAR week since 2008.
* Chicago Bulls - black alternates since 1995, with notable changes including team name and diamond on the shorts; black/green alternate jersey introduced in the 2006 exclusively worn on St. Patrick's Day week; red/blue two-tone alternate worn in 2006 as well.
* Cleveland Cavaliers - navy blue alternates since 2005; 1970s throwback worn in 2008-09, and introduced a blue/yellow fan jersey in 2008.
* Dallas Mavericks - silver "metallic" alternates worn once in 2003-2004 season; green alternate from 2004 to 2009, replaced by royal blue alternate for the 2009-10 season.
* Denver Nuggets - dark navy/gold alternates since 2005.
* Detroit Pistons - red alternates, first used from 1994 to 1996, again from 1999 to 2001, and from 2005 to 2009.
* Golden State Warriors - orange alternates since 2004.
* Houston Rockets - a red, gold, and white jersey will be worn in the 2009-2010 season. The new alternate will come from the old colors from the Rockets in the 1990s.
* Indiana Pacers - gold alternates from 1999 to 2005, and since 2007.
* Los Angeles Clippers - blue alternates since 2001.
* Los Angeles Lakers - white alternates since 2002 in honor of commentator Chick Hearn; only team to wear third jersey at home.
* Memphis Grizzlies - black alternates from 1997 to 2000 during the Vancouver years. Introduced a brand new sky blue alternate jersey worn against the Detroit Pistons on October 28, 2009, and will be their alternate jersey for the 2009-2010 season.
* Miami Heat - red alternates from 1995 to 2000, again since 2002.
* Milwaukee Bucks - green alternates from 1996 to 1998, red alternates since 2008.
* Minnesota Timberwolves - black alternates from 1999 to 2008.
* New Jersey Nets - silver alternates from 1999 to 2005, red alternates from 2006 to 2009.
* New Orleans Hornets - purple alternates from 1991 to 1997 during the Charlotte years; gold alternates from 2004 to 2008. Green/purple Mardi Gras alternates introduced for the 2010 season.
* New York Knicks - never, but had a green/orange alternate since 2006, exclusive on St. Patrick's Day games.
* Orlando Magic - blue alternates from 1994 to 1998.
* Philadelphia 76ers - blue alternates from 1999 to 2006; red alternates from 2007 to 2009.
* Phoenix Suns - black alternates from 1994 to 2000; orange alternates since 2003; latter first third jersey to feature abbreviation of city name.
* Portland Trail Blazers - red alternates since 2002
* Sacramento Kings - black alternates from 1995 to 2001; gold alternates from 2005 to 2007.
* San Antonio Spurs - silver alternates only used in 2004 season.
* Toronto Raptors - red alternates from 2003 to 2006, currently the official road uniform; black/green alternate jersey introduced in 2008 exclusively worn on St. Patrick's Day week; black alternates since 2008.
* Utah Jazz - black alternates from 1999 to 2004; powder blue alternates since 2006.
* Washington Wizards - gold/black two-tone alternates from 2006 to 2009.

* The Oklahoma City Thunder have never worn any third jerseys. As the Seattle SuperSonics, the Sonics wore amber alternates from 1999 to 2001 and gold alternates from 2004 to 2008. However, the Rockets have unveiled its new alternate jersey with an accent of gold to be used in special occasions and some road games, beginning this season[8].

I like the red uniforms and think the black should be the alternative.

I wish they'd go with the old 75-77 style for the main roads next year.

Although it'd be neat to see the original uniforms in black.

Btw, when did the NBA ban black road uniforms? I don't know how many have them, but I hope we don't lose them if we stop using them as the main one.
