“We talk about being humble and hungry all the time and if I didn’t set that tone around here, then I’d be upset,” he said. “I love my job and I feel lucky to be one of 30 people who gets to run an NBA team. I don’t take that lightly. I owe it to a lot of people. And from where I’ve come, from the minor leagues, to get to where I am. I was a marginal NBA player, at best. And to build up an organization I’m proud of means a lot. But I know there’s a lot of work to do.”

I think if I was KP and I was being accused of being too big for the league and my team. I would try to stay away from the term "I".

I would replace that with "We".

Yes, that sounds much better! They really were just a marginal NBA player. ;)

I think if I was KP, and I was being accused of something as silly and meaningless as "being too big for the league and my team," I would ignore it, respond to questions honestly and keep doing my job.

um yeah, removing the I's in that actually has the reverse effect to what the OP suggested.

I didn't say every sentence now mins. The part of where he said "If I didn't set the tone around here..."

I think he should throw it back at them with something like this:

“They talk about being humble and hungry all the time and if they didn’t set that tone around there, then they’d be upset,” he said. “they love their jobs and they feel lucky to be 29 of 30 people who get to run an NBA team. They don’t take that lightly. They owe it to a lot of people. And from where they’ve come, from the minor leagues, to get to where they are. They were marginal NBA players, at best. And to build up organizations they're proud of means a lot. But they know there’s a lot of work to do.”

Why would he use "we" in that sentence? He's referring to his role.

It's like asking a basketball player, "What was running through your head when you hit that shot?" and his answer: "We all tried our best to win the game." That's...great? Useful answer.

Because he makes it sound like he is responsible for how humble every person in that franchise is. Everyone plays a part in that. Not just him.

All I'm sayin is if he wants to wash his hands of these accusations, he needs to be careful with what he says. If it doesn't matter to him. F it then.

Not really. I think it's just inherent bias on your part to assume things that don't exist in reality.

Wow, KP actually goes off script, and you blast him for it. Dumb post.

“It talks about being humble and hungry all the time and if it didn’t set that tone around here, then it'd be upset,” it said. “It loves its job and it feels lucky to be one of 30 things that get to run an NBA team. It doesn’t take that lightly. It owes it to a lot of things. And from where it's come, from the minor leagues, to get to where it is. It was a marginal NBA player, at best. And to build up an organization it's proud of means a lot. But it knows there’s a lot of work to do.”

I think a lot of the GM's in the league are egocentric and arrogant. The difference is, a lot of them aren't always in the public eye. KP likes to talk to the press. I think that rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

I think it rubs a lot of anonymous posters on the internet the wrong way, yourself not included.

What are you bitching about here? I don't get it. The tone and the culture of any business is set at the top. This thread is retarded.

I think not only should the "I"'s be replaced, but it should be replaced by something showing his love for America.

What the fuck are you talking about!? You think KP cares what some random writers are saying about him. Freeman asked him a question about his job and he answered it. Quit drinkin' HATORADE and support your team! And on a personal note, KP is one of the coolest and most down to earth guys you will ever meet.

“Bitches be talkin about being humble and hungry all the time and if bitches be not setin that tone around here, then bitches be upset,” he said. “bitches be lovin their job and bitches be feelin lucky to be one of 30 people who gets to run an NBA team. Bitches be not takin that lightly. Bitches be owin it to a lot of people. And from where bitches be comin, from the minor leagues, to get to where bitches be at. Bitches be marginal NBA player, at best. And to build up an organization bitches be proud of means a lot. But bitches be knowin there’s a lot of work to do.”

The KP trashing began with an "anonymous Western GM" (Memphis) and then Woj picked it up and then the internet assumed that the entire NBA hated KP, and so not to be left behind, now the entire internet hates KP, half of the blazers fan (inexplicably) included.

Fuck all that. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding is fucking delicious.

I'm rubbing that pudding all over my body right now! Errrrrr......... yeah that's what i'm doing!

So, would you guys prefer we have John "We Suck" Nash back as our GM.

God, being an NBA GM sure seems like a damned if you do, fired if you don't' kind of job. When you look around the league at all the teams that perpetually suck (Clippers, Memphis, Charlotte, Minnesota, Knicks etc.), and those have totally squandered high draft picks, expensive free agents, top notch coaches, etc. there aren't really a lot of GMs I'd rather have than KP. Who cares if he's arrogant (or at least labeled as arrogant by little bitches like Chris Wallace who are jealous of his success). Is Kobe Bryant humble? Is Phil Jackson humble? Is Kevin Garnett humble? Humble is overrated. I'll take winning, thank you. You can have humble.
