REFSNYDER being recalled tmo

Just heard that now, I hope it means that they've FINALLY had enough of Drew.

hope the kid can stay

Me too and I also hope they give him enough of a chance. I checked out his stats and he really has nothing left to do in the minors. In over 800 AA/AAA ABs he's hitting well over .300. If not now when? Especially when you have sub .200 hitting options at second. We're just going to have to live with some errors because he's certainly not going to be the glove Drew is over there.

i understand i will get blasted for this around here but damn robbie was the best at second i have ever watched. i loved sandberg for the cubs growing up around this place but robbie was so smooth and a beast with the bat. i still think he ends up in the hall if he stays with the yanks but the guy chose the $. most of us would do the same if given the chance in our professions.

Blasted no, you'll get no argument from me as I agree with everything you said.

...unless he does something incredible, Refsnyder's call up will likely be a brief 2 game visit...the reason he's getting a chance is because the Yanx will be facing 2 LHers in a row Saturday (Rodriguez) and Sunday. (Miley)
...so again, Refsnyder will be with the Yanx for just a 2 game "platoon" cameo appearance. But if he does well I hope they find a way to keep him on the roster.

If nothing else I'd like to see him get as equal a chance that Pirela got.

...I hope he brings his bat with him because his defensive shortcomings could be a problem.

In reading last nights game recap there is a short blurb of Drew commenting that it will be nice to see Refsnyder up. Very interesting comment knowing there's a possibility that Refsnyder may well be his replacement.

You know your career is in trouble when you can go 1 for 5 & have your average go up.

Hear me out on this one but first let me make something clear regarding Drew.
I DID understand the Yanks line of thinking when they signed him...they were hoping with a timely full ST he may give them maybe .235- .245 or so with double digit HRs. I was willing to give him the first two months (along with CC) before pulling the plug. And I was always in favor and expecting the Yanks to eventually call up Refsnyder after the first couple of months of Drew failure and it's no secret the Yanks thought he needed more "reps" on defense and they may have been correct.

Glad he's finally here.

Back to the Drew thing.
Just out of curiosity, how much difference is there between a .230-.240 2b with little power, low OBP- and a guy batting .180 on pace for at least 20 HRs?.....
And I am NOT referring to Refsnyder... This is just a question comparing Drew with a basic ".230-.240 2b with little power".

...don't know who'd want him but I wonder if maybe Drew might get traded by the deadline...as a late inning defensive replacement, he still serves a purpose...just not on the Yanx...:bgrin:

...love to see Refsnyder stick.

That's what stats are for...to find and note AS MANY different ones as you can find, throw them into the mix, evaluate, and make judgements and comparisons with players as they pertain to your team and how they may or may not be "good enough".

" They" even have stats which help indicate how often a player hits the ball well w/risp despite his BA w/risp.

David Cone oftens cites not very well known or renowned " stats".
Indeed picking from rare CHERRY Trees.

What the hell does he know? Lol.....he's only reading the same numbers GMs and minor league player development personnel are reading.

I'm sure Drew reads all the stories, gets questions about this kid. Has to be a relief to see the pressure shift off of him.

Mrmel, you took the words out of my mouth.........

IT'S ABOUT TIME!

I really hope the kid does so well while he's here that the Yankees will find it difficult to send him back down.

I also want to be part of a large group singing Drew's goodbye song, " na na hey hey goodbye".

As long as he does not play 2nd like the
A's SS Marcos Semien, he'll be fine.
Besides, is there anyone down on the farm
to help him with his defense?

I think Cashman is going to ask Chuck Knoblach to work with him.:rotfl::rotfl:

Hold off on your serenade, you could be saying hello to the new backup SS/2b.
Which I suspected once it became clear Drew wasn't going to turn it around and get any better.

Only a matter of time before the Yanks called up Refsnyder under those circumstances as long as he was still hitting and wasn't a butcher defensively.

Yanks knew what they were doing and to be fair...it's not as if they're in BAD shape as they make the current move.

By the way...anyone notice Baltimore needed a walk off HR to stay within 3 games of the Yanks? Yanks could've had a real legitimate fair chance to end the first half 5-6 games in first place.

Oh those HRs....turn games around so quickly.
But we already knew this...
...from Miller Huggins, Earl Weaver to Joe Girardi (Yanks lead in HRs 2009).
Anyone remember Matsui in 2009 WS?
Of COURSE you do.

Not to say you don't need good consistent pitching and play good basic situation baseball when called upon, yes indeed.....especially GOOD pitching.

Ah sh!t, too bad Baltimore eventually won on a HOME RUN.... Lol
