win the series. How do you rough up a player when the NBA has gotten so soft and most of the calls are ticky-tack anyway? I've never understood this.

We need to protect the rim. He has too easy of a time cutting to the paint, we need to send him to the floor and contest his shots. We need Freeland out there to back up Lopez as the first substitution.

because Wesley Matthews wasn't allowed @ all to "rough up" James Harden last series? causes the nba is soft and doesn't allow body contact.

Nothing wrong with a hard playoff foul. We have scrubs that we can miss for a game or two. Come in the paint, get hit. It's not a new concept.
We need to get the Spurs out of their comfort zone. That's what they did to us. Nothing wrong with punching someone in the mouth. The Spurs gave us one hell of a whallop.

the thing with the Spurs is they have no comfort zone. they make adjustments. you don't think Pop is going over this exact scenario in his head? He is probably aware that Miller is saying this and he's coming up with a contingency plan.

EVERY player has spots on the floor where they like to shoot and places where they don't. SAS was pushing our guys all night to places where we don't like to shoot.
They're not invincible; they're just better prepared and completely buy into their system. We have the talent and the togetherness to compete with them.

The problem is Stotts doesn't always make the adjustments. He's pretty rigid with his rotations and subs. I think that he'll adjust eventually, I think he wanted to keep the rotation short due to our bench and just to get into the 2nd round (for job security). We all knew Parker would be getting to the paint at will, you saw how easily he did it in game 7 against Dallas and...well his entire career. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out you need to clog up the middle and contest it all. Too bad the blazers bigs didn't really board or protect the paint very well at all.

Yeah, Reggie Miller kept saying Wes needed to play Parker more physical, WHILE the refs were calling Wes for 3 ticky tack fouls in LESS THAN 1 MINUTE. I swear it's like he's not even watching the game.

I think Rolo and LA have to win the rebound battle and lock down the paint on defense, just live right outside the 3pt line and shut down the lanes. It's the only way to make sure Parker is a jump shooter and our wings can get the long balls and get out and run. Have to make them play our game for a change. Will Barton gave Tony Parker some trouble with his length in the second half. Get frickin Splitter in foul trouble!

I don't think you have to rough up the spurs. Sorry as I am to say this, I think the Blazers have to make Duncan beat you. (I'm a huge Duncan fan) Prevent parker from driving, make him pass to Duncan on the elbow and let him shoot. Duncan is very inconsistent with that shot this year. I just don't know if the Blazers can keep parker out of the lane. Also, Ginobli probably will probably have a better game and he is a much better facilitator when not passing to the other team.
