Remaining Free Agents

So if teams with full rosters don’t waive anyone today, the Lakers, Suns, and Blazers will be the only options for free agents looking to play in the bubble.

I just hope we aren't passing on signing to save a couple bucks.
It really would be comparative pennies, so I imagine the reason would more likely be that they just aren't that keen on (a) the Blazers or (b) this whole bubble deal.

or the more likely C) none of the above. Lakers haven’t signed anyone yet either. There’s no rush.

Been watching Justin Anderson’s g league games here as I’m hungover, and I’d like to revise my wishlist and put him in the top 3. Dude is a tank! Looks like he’s improved his shot as well.

According to Ian Begley, several teams are also interested in Lance Thomas. Career 38% three point shooter. Good size at 6’8 240 (7’3” wingspan.) I remember him being a decent 3&D guy back in the day but haven’t heard anything about him lately. Might be a decent replacement for Ariza.

Wow! He doesn’t look too bad. Him or Justin Anderson would be such a Neil Olshey type pick up too. An underrated guy who play better than they usually do once they arrive here

Yeah, Thomas seems like a low maintenance guy that could slot in immediately and fill the Ariza role, while Anderson is a guy that could actually be a piece next season as well.

Well, Justin Anderson is gone. The good news? Buyers market.

Are the Blazers waiting on the Lakers? What's up?

It’s probably no different than the trade deadline. When you have a deadline, teams will usually wait until the last day. Probably even more true when there are only three teams with open spots. There’s also the possibility teams were waiting to see if anyone got waived that might’ve interested them. And players can still opt out of Orlando before Wednesday, so there’s that to consider as well. I’d be surprised if either the lakers or the blazers didn’t sign replacements. Phoenix is a little different because they don’t have to replace anyone.

Suns have to replace Kelly Oubre Jr

Suns have to replace Kelly Oubre Jr

He was injured awhile ago, and Phoenix isn’t realistically in a playoff race so they should be focused on development. If they sign anyone it won’t/shouldn’t be a vet.

My thoughts is that olshey properly will stand fast and not sign any additional players. I am not saying it's the right decision but just my thoughts.

This leaves just Portland with an opening. Phoenix too but they won’t sign anyone the blazers would/should be interested in.

I think it’ll be Lance Thomas, but I’m hoping for Gerald or Crabbe. Not signing anyone would be surprising, but I wouldn’t be against more minutes for Trent and Nas either.

Cleveland signed Jordan Bell to a 2 year deal

I wouldn't be surprised one bet if we didn't sign anyone. More likely those 2 places will go to our g league players.

I thought E.T. can help. We need more depth at the 3 with Ariza out. E.T. can bring up the ball and play defense. He can switch 1-4 on defense. Minimum deal for the rest of the season. Win/win for us and him get to showcase to the rest of the league for his next contract. But he is a smart man, so he might not want to go risk it at Orlando.

he’s not a free agent.

Ah.. I thought he was bought out by the Wolves. Turned out Crabbe was bought out by them this past deadline. I knew one of NO's mistake was bought out.
E.T. is smart and probably didn't want to give any money back on a buy out knowing he will never make that kind of money again.

Crabbe anyone?

These dummies really about to be the only team in Orlando with multiple open spots on their roster. 12 active players and two way guys that shouldn’t be in an nba rotation right now. Genius. And watch, we won’t even see more minutes for Little or Wenyen. Hezonja gonna gobble it all up.

That doesn't make sense. If someone gets covid we won't h as ve enough players. Signing two players to replace Ariza and fill the last spot does count against us in the tax. It makes sense to fill those spots.

Every team is trying to shave salary now....they might not sign anyone

Your right it does make sense but I am not confident enough in olshey to do the right thing by picking up one to two players that can help us to get over the hump. Maybe he will but he hasn't pull that lever to do so yet.
