I mean, they did film The Truman Show in Gaetz's childhood home. I used to have to drive by it to do bird surveys in a couple of nearby state parks. Completely white, fake, and full of terrible people.

My Mom, who will be 90 this August, lived just outside Orlando at the time, and voted for Trump in 2016 mostly because she could not persuade herself to vote for Hillary Clinton. But she quickly saw through Trump's BS and regretted her vote. She also told me as early as 2 years ago, that DeSantis would be our next POTUS, and I said "no way".

Now it it looks as if she could be right though both us are hoping her prediction will be wrong. We're also both born Floridians but she finally decided that she could no longer tolerate what was going on in her state and so I moved her up here to Georgia in September last year and had a nice little cottage built for her which is on our acreage property behind our house. She still cleans her own house, cooks her own meals, washes her own clothes, does her own yard work, pays her own bills, and drives her own car 12 miles and back to town and endures having to deal with the "Walmartians".

She's still sharp as a tack but now, whenever she hears or reads anything having to do with Trump or DeSantis, she shakes her head and says to herself, "WTF was I thinking?"...her exact words, not mine...yup, nowadays, Mom's vocabulary is much more "colorful" than when I was a kid.

If evidence has been found to support this misconduct, why hasn't he been charged by the legal system??? Why does a former nominee for the nation's top law enforcement position get a free pass?? He is not (and never has been) the president and therefore does not have immunity granted by the Supreme Court. This guy should be required. to wear a pedophile jacket for the rest of his life, just as other sex offenders (not named Trump) are required to do. But I guess.....lawfare??? America is where only the little people are held accountable............it's almost too much "greatness" to bear.......

Because Merrick Garland didn't want it to look like he was using Department of Justice for political reasons so did not pursue investigation.
He probably would have made a decent Supreme Court justice, cautious, moderate, respectful of law and precedent. That's why Obama nominated him, someone to whom no one could object, except Obama could have named god himself if you believe in a god and Republicans would have blocked it. Possible good attorney general in normal times when all sides agree on the Constitution and law. These are not normal times. Possibly Biden's worst appointment.
 
Looks like some of "the chickens have come home to roost"...and hopefully, more to follow.

A child in Florida cannot consent to sex with an adult; Matt Gaetz gave money to the trafficker of a child that he raped.

  1. Victim A was 17 years old, in high school.
  2. The age of consent in the state of Florida is 18; statutory rape if the adult is >23 is a felony; and “She told me she was older” is explicitly not a legally permissible defense.
  3. Victim A was a child sex trafficking victim, and a man is doing 11 years for trafficking her.
  4. It is not libelous to cite the crime that someone is accused of. “Sex with a minor” is not a thing in Florida, you’re describing statutory rape.
  5. The ethics report calls it statutory rape.
  6. Nobody cares if you think that 17 is old enough to consent.
  7. Saying that he “paid a minor for sex” minimizes his crimes by implying that it was consensual and transactional. It allows people to create their own narrative, rather than be forced to confront the fact that Gaetz paid a convicted sex trafficker for the opportunity to rape a drugged child.
