Replacement for Nix?

I know they will have to have a replacement for Nix called up and I cringe at the options. It seems like Adams is the best option and he can't seem to hit worth a lick and is an automatic out. I wish there was someone on waivers who could fit that role that plays good defense and can actually hit a little. With Jeter being so brittle and Nunez having a groin issue I think it is important to have a reliable backup.

Also my guess is they will send David Huff down since he threw so many pitches. I would think they could put Nix on the DL and call Claiborne back up and then send Huff down and call up a utility infielder probably Adams (yuck).

No he was the 26th man for the double header and then had to go back down when the games were over.

I feel the Yankees are forced to make a bigger move. Given the fact that you just don't know with Jeter, Nunuez hammy is iffy and the other choices are Gonzales or Lillibridge for short. This puts the burden on Cashman and Co. to pick up an everyday SS if they are serious about a playoff run. Here are some of my suggestions.

Jimmy Rollins, has cleared waivers already. Salary issue, should not cost much in way of prospects
Jose Reyes, why not look to solve the issue longer term, Money is the issue here.
Alexi Ramirez, potentially another salary dump

These are obviously not your spare tire shortstops, but I would hate to see the Yankees bank on Jeter's ankle and groin only to have him breakdown on September 2, and whomever we got would not be eligible for the playoffs. It also may begin the construction of the roster for 2014 and all the unknowns of the left side of the infield...

Majorball, I am right there with you but don't know if Cashman will pull the trigger. I think they need to go all in now that they are only 4 out of the last wildcard spot and the team is playing so well. With the loss of Nix and the health of Jeter and Nunez you need to have someone that is decent in the field and is not an automatic out at the plate.

^^^all things considered, Ramirez would be my pick...solid player, decent BA, doesn't walk much but doesn't strike out much either, steals bases, still only 31, and can play both SS or 2B.
...plus the Yanx would only be committed for 2 more years @ about $10 Mil per...and the Chisox may pick up some of that money.

^^^^ That was my thinking to. white Sox about to go in rebuilding mode and would likely welcome the salary relief. He could also be a part of the 2014 team with all the variable unknowns.
