Replacing Cashman

If the Yankees were finally going to replace Cashman, do they go with the latest business model of young and first time GM's or do they bring in a name with credentials. I wouldn't want anyone who is currently within the organization currently?

I wonder if a John Hart type is an example?

One of the great lines was when Brad Pitt said to the Red Sox owner about a suggestion for her birthday or anniversy, " I just lost to the Yankees for all I care get her a bowling Ball". I would love to have Beane, He has been ahead of the curve for a long time now.

A Beane type would clearly have many more resources with the Yankees. What you can't deny is their eye for talent.

The issue is with these two idiot sons I think it's Cashman running all of the organization's baseball related activities. In other words far too much power for him to be replaced.

Oakland is not condusive to winning because they refuse to spend any money at all. Its hard to win with that payroll even for the best of GMs. Surely you dont think Cashman is a better GM? WHy do i bother to ask, of course you do. Give Casman 60 mill total to work with. They would be dead last every year with no farm system to speak of.

If they spent some money in Oakland the team could possibly make a deeper playoff run. Beane has five division titles and a 102 win second place finish. Could possibly be a sixth division title this season. When you look at the payrolls it's pretty amazing what he has done. They have a $69 million payroll. What would Cashman do with that?

It is not difficult to see. Rusty just choses not to look. We saw what Cash can do on a budget. Pick up 17 released players over the age of 35, give Youk 12 mill, extend ichiro 2 years, and trade for vernon fucking wells. And now....cue up 37 year old Soriano to the rescue. There is your GM on a limited payroll.

Im making assumptions based on reality. Beane is a smart GM who makes smart moves more often than not and produces players out of his system. He simply has no payroll to retain his stars ot suppliment his team as neede. Cashman is a payroll banker who cant find his way out of a dark corner with any limitations on what he can spend. He has proven that this year quite easily. He also has one of the worst rates of player development in all of baseball, and has a farm system that continues to disappoint. He has drafted poorly. What good Free agent signings he has made have all now gone south because the deals are TOO LONG. What exactly does this man do well? What?

While it would be nice to have him, if he didn't take the money from Boston, what makes you think he would take money from NY? AND as someone else pointed out, he hasn't won it all yet...

But Beane doesn't lose every year. With one of the lowest payrolls in baseball his team has a very good chance at their second straight division title and sixth in his time as GM of Oakland.

Unfortunately, until he does so Hal hasn't shown the balls needed to fire cashman like his father would have done at this point and hire someone with an eye for talent in the gene michael mode. Someone outside the organization that runs a successful farm system from st.louis, texas or tampa bay with a proven track record and make them the gm is what we need to turn this team around. I'm not holding my breath though. I think our only starter on the field under 30 is brett gardner who I believe turns 30 next year. Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Your right if you don't include Nunez. And you are also in my opinion right about hiring someone from outside the box. I stated that earlier in another thread and feel that the only true fix for the Yankees is time. Time to fill the farm system, time for contracts to expire, time for Arod 's public beheading, just time... But it has to start sooner than later.

The next crop of guys in the farm are very young. Gary Sanchez for example is 20 years old and most likely needs another year in AAA to be ready. Guys like Adams who is 26 years old is not the future so as for the young prospects time will tell.

Mess, sanchez is still in A ball where hes been for a few years. Still needs to do double and triple A and who knows for how long. Optimistically, won't see him before at least 2016 unless theres a major change in Yankee minor league philosophy.

My feelings are a little different on this topic. Especially this year where its obvious that we're not going anywhere. So I'm hoping that come 9-1 they not only bring up the kids but also give em a chance to play. Hell even bring up 2-3 of them now. You need room? no problem release Hafner make room.
