I was kidding about getting parts from Home Depot and Harbor Freight but I was just watching an old interview on CNN with the dude who designed the sub and he used parts from... Camping World.

Imagine becoming a billionaire and then climbing into something that Tony Star built in a cave with spare parts and diving down over 12,000 feet.

Fighting to stay awake but their best chance for rescue is to bang against the hull and yell. Not good, not good at all.

Sonar drones are deployed to find Titanic explorers lost in 22ft tube at the bottom of the Atlantic – as experts say the chances of success are wretched, and passengers' best hope might be to BANG on the hull

This is a freaking nightmare. Please tell me there is at least an LED light in there with enough batteries to outlast the CO2 scrubber...

I think you're safe.

First you'd have to be a billionaire.

Then you'd have to be willing to shell out $250k.

Then you'd have to be willing to climb into this floating tomb.

It's a sinking tomb, not a floating one. Otherwise, they'd still be alive.

'Likely signs of life have been detected': Rescue plane hunting missing Titanic submarine with five on board 'hears banging' coming every 30 minutes from near wreck site - raising hopes men are ALIVE as search enters make-or-break day
  • A Canadian Aircraft picked up the sounds near the disappearance site, a leaked memo suggests
  • The Explorers Club also posted that there have been 'likely signs of life detected'
  • Rescue crews are trying to locate the sub that went missing Sunday on its way to the Titanic wreck site

It would be awesome if they were alive. You KNOW it'd be made into a movie.

What doesn't make sense to me, why would it be every 30 minutes?

Is it so it's mechanical (in the sense of it's in a pattern)?

They're hungry, cold, thirsty, and air is quickly running out. You conserve everything, especially motion, and effort. Continuous pounding is going to use up everything you don't have a lot of much quicker. Also continuous pounding is going to be very annoying which would most likely increase breathing.

Being as calm as possible to conserve what they have gives rescuers more time.

Supposedly they should have enough air to last until Thursday morning.

It seems either the sub lost power or it imploded under the pressure. The pounding noises lean towards a power outage. The sub is supposed to communicate via text and via a ping. Both stopped shortly after it submerged.

It supposedly has several safety features to get back to the surface including sandbags and pipes that drop off and a balloon that inflates. One of these is supposed to happen even if they fall unconscious. Both have seemed to have failed. Not a good sound.

Hope they make it.

I honestly feel worse that they actually have automatic safety precautions like sandbags and balloon mechanism.

Must not have done enough testing. I guess that's the risk of being an explorer...

I hope they can get it working and get saved. Seems like their own equipment might be their best hope at this point...

Welp, I would think this will be the end of that company.

Maybe that window couldn't withhold the pressure? Damning.

It worked during prior dives, but who knows how it's integrity might have been weakened each dive before it could give out.
