I like Jin Wah in Beaverton for Dim Sum. That has been my family's go-to for years, along with Great China on Hall Blvd.

Also, for nostalgia, I'm a fan of Golden Crown. I had my birthday there last year in fact...we used to go there all the time as kids. MEDALLIAN BEEF!

Also, a few months ago I went to the SAYLER's OLD COUNTRY KITCHEN on the east side for the first time (used to go to the beaverton location all the time). Fuck, pretty good ass steak. I love their relish plate too and their onion rings and the mushroom sauce. Cheapish steaks too, ended up buying a t-shirt as well!
 
I used to work right by Saylor's (off SE Washington/Stark and 101st/102nd). Bomb food for a cheesy diner. Their steak used to be really good, though it was slowly going downhill (still good for the price). I used to love their breakfast, especially since it was a full breakfast for like $6.

I keep waiting for SLAYER's OLD COUNTRY KITCHEN but it never happens... :sigh:
 
Lardo is a good sandwich shop on 12th and Hawthorne. I'd add that to a bucket list. I recommend their fries with pig fat, and the bahn mi meatball sandwich

I second this. So many good restaurants in Portland that I can't think of others to add , and then someone else mentions another gem.
 
Anyone of you eat at Dicky Joe's Hamburgers in Eugene or Tualatin? Thinking about taking a special trip to Tualatin. The hamburgers and fries in that commercial appears to be amazing.
 
Has anyone tried Bunk Sandwiches? I was thinking of grabbing lunch there when I'm in town next week.

Can't go wrong there.

I hit up their food truck a couple weeks ago and had an off the menu grilled cheese with salami and pepperoncini's, doesn't sound special but was amazing.
 
Pietros is back in Beaverton. Might hit it up, reminds me of my youth
 
The exec chef at departure is kicking ass on top chef. Not really impressed with departure though
 
Been doing a lot of dim sum lately. Any other places that do it good other than Wongs King and Ocean City??

Tonight I'm going back to Thien Hong because I have another hankering for their famous salt and pepper squid.. Ohhhh so good.

I'll have to try that jackfruit shake.

i ate at Montage for the first time when I was in Portland the other week. The mac and cheese with buffalo chicken sauce was pretty dope.

Went to Thien Hong twice. dopeness.
 
oh yeah, I ate at Pok Pok wing at PDX. Not bad but the Brick and Mortar is better. can't beat the speed.

oh yeah, Blue Star donuts was dope as well.

I ate at Montage around 1998-2000 I think. Had biscuits and gravy or something. Still a thing in Portland? Thought it was awesome.
 
Its new orleans themed I guess. Went for late night eats, where its popular. I live in the burbs so its always in the opposite direction, we'd end up at Shari's.

I liked it

Oh yeah, Veriatable Quandry is having problems. The city voted to take the land they are leasing to VQ which is the patio and turn it into a courthouse. VQ owner doubts he can survive with that arrangement.

For those in the San Diego area - Q'ero in Encinitas, CA is the best Peruvian restaurant I ever sampled - I like it much more than Anadina in NW Portland (which is still pretty good).
 
I've been stuck in a rut recently. I've been to Imperial like 7 times in the past month. One day I was there for dinner, then back for lunch the next day. I do enjoy that restaurant, though.

Been to Bar Avignon a few times recently, as well. Same with Raven & Rose. Probably the most interesting restaurant I've tried for the first time in the past two months has been Levant. The lamb was off the hook. Their brussel sprouts in lamb bacon...... Cha-ching! Money.

When I first turned 21, and everyone was at the clubs dancing and all that lame shit...... VQ is where you'd find my bud and I. We'd be there all night, 3-4 nights per week. The bartender would let us stay and mellow out after closing until the crew was about to leave and lock up for the night. Still go there at least once per month, but more in the summer, if for no other reason than to sit out on that patio.

Are you watching Top Chef this year? The chefs from Departure and Imperial are doing pretty well and still in it.

I know Doug, the chef from Imperial has the items he's made on the show on the menu (PBR braised pork or whatevz)
 
I'm not watching, but I know Doug is on there. Nice guy, met him a time or two. We do a fair amount of business with Imperial, so I tend to eat there a lot. Solid restaurant, and I'm a fan of Portland Penny Diner, too. (Also, a big, big fan of Paley's Place, all three restaurants are owned by the same dude.)
