Would they though. They want to get the Blazers back for Kobe night. Not to mentioned when they play the Blazers their stars always play if able. They relish the chance to beat us.

I don't think the Lakers care at all about the Blazers. If it helps them prepare for the playoffs they will play. If rest and avoiding Corona is a larger help for them to win the title, they will sit.

Yes the Lakers are the team we Blazers fans hate and want to beat.

The Lakers have lost recently in the playoffs to the Spurs, Thunder, Mavs, Celtics, Suns, Pistons, Spurs, Spurs, Jazz, Jazz, Rockets, Spurs, Suns. Then the Blazers in 1992 when Magic retired and they didn't care about basketball. Two years prior they lost to the Bulls and Suns.

They think of us as we think of the TWolves.

You have to go back to 1977 to find another playoff series the Blazers beat the Lakers. Sad.

Would love for Dame to change that one of these years.

Damn in 43 years the Blazers only won a playoff series against the Lakers twice. Shit

Re: the crowd noise issue. They're supposed to be using NBA 2K sounds - that's stupid. NBA TV should have a feature where you can turn your mike on while watching the game and they transmit that sound to the stands. Then it would track the action.

They'd have no way to stop people from saying terrible things on live tv.

I was joking. I remember them having to move the games from Inglewood.

Just realized tie breakers won’t matter for Blazers. Since, we’ve played more games than NO, Sac, and SA, it’s impossible for there to be a tie.

Yes, we also control our own destiny for the 9th seed.

pumping crowd noise isn’t as bad as it sounds. Watched a Dortmund game couple weeks ago where they did it and it didn’t feel much different than the real thing. They also pumped the noise according to what was happening on the field, so it was even less noticeable.

What do we do with Simons? decrease his minutes? Nurk and Collins will be back, and Simons has shown nothing that he deserves more minutes, each of these 8 games are important, and Simons has been a liability for the most part. I think he should be out of the rotation for these games

If we go 8-0, and N.O. goes 8-0, we will both be at .500, giving them 9th. We don't really control our own destiny, since we don't, presumably, play them again.

I tend to think your right... leave him out of the rotation, he can play garbage time or maybe a 5 minute stretch.

These 8 games may be more intense and difficult than a playoff series. We may need to go 6-2 to get in; instead of just 4-3 to win a series. Play every game like its game 7!

Hmm thats a good point because we both would be exactly .500. However Memphis would have at least 36 losses, so they would need to go 5-0 against their other opponents. The chance of all of that exactly happening for 21 games is probably 1 in 100,000 or such.

If both NO and PDX go 7-1 or 6-2 or 5-3 etc... we would get the seed instead of them as our win percentage is a thousandth of a point better

Yes NO can only tie us if we both go 8-0. Doubtful.

I don't think you have to worry about that scenario...

I've read multiple things on here.
Is there any official schedule (with dates) available.

I've also heard that there will be a play-and-in for the 8th and 9th place teams.
Can anyone confirm this officially?

Or, is everything still just rumor?

There is no schedule out just yet. The play in between 8 and 9 will happen if 9 is within 4 games of 8. They will then go head to head. 9 wil need to win 2 games, 8 would only need to win 1 to advance to playoffs.
So, if we stay at 9, within 4 games of 8, we play Memphis. If we lose game 1, we're out. If we win, we play them one more time. Winner gets 8th seed.

We know that the "seeding" games (8 games prior to the start of the playoffs) begin on July 31st. There was an announcement of the general dates for the start of each round of the playoffs released last week, but I couldn't find it with a quick search. The play-ins for the 8th & 9th seeds in each conference only happen if the 9th place team finished within 4 games of the 8th seed. The format is a two-game play-in where it's single elimination for the 8th seed and double elimination for the 9th seed.

This is the tentative playoff schedule per Shams Charania:

Tentative NBA postseason dates:
Aug. 16-17: Play-in tourney
Aug. 18: First round
Sept. 1: Second round
Sept. 15: Conference Finals
Sept. 30: Finals Game 1
