Mon, June 23 - .... New Jersey names Doug Overton assistant coach.
My takes: ....Doug Overton was working as an assistant coach at St. Joe’s University. If anything happens to a point guard and Eddie Gill isn’t available, maybe Overton would suit up.
Thu, June 26 - ..... Milwaukee acquires Richard Jefferson from New Jersey in exchange for Bobby Simmons and Yi Jianlian. ....
My takes: ....The trade of the night was Richard Jefferson for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons. It’s a good move for both sides. All three players needed a change in scenery.
Fri, June 27 - Denver extends qualifying offer to J.R. Smith. New Jersey extends qualifying offer to Nenad Krstic.
My takes: Smith is a great talent, but lacks the discipline and basketball IQ to make himself into an all-around star. Perhaps with the right coach and the right opportunity, he could develop into an all-star. He was one of the best sixth men in the league last year. He doesn’t play defense though. As for Krstic, he ended up signing to play overseas. He seemed to lose his heart this past year, but the same can be said for over half of the Nets roster last season.
Fri, July 11 - Dallas re-signs Antoine Wright and signs Keith McLeod and James Singleton. New Jersey reaches agreements in principle with Eduardo Najera and Jarvis Hayes. ....
My takes: Maybe if Dallas didn’t resign Wright, Gerald Green would have been the insurance policy. Instead of Singleton, they should have brought back fan favorite Eduardo Najera. Jarvis Hayes signing with the Nets leads me to call him a poor man’s Richard Jefferson....
Mon, July 21 - New Jersey acquires Keyon Dooling from Orlando in exchange for cash considerations.
My take: See, I told you that the Magic signed Anthony Johnson to replace Dooling. They couldn’t agree on the money. I think the Magic might have made a mistake with letting Dooling go, but we’ll see.
Tue, July 22 - ....Golden State acquires Marcus Williams from New Jersey for future first round pick. ....
My take: .... This Marcus Williams is the promising point guard from Connecticut that was a backup to Jason Kidd for his first two years in the league. With Monta Ellis getting injured, Williams will be pressed into full time duty. ....
Wed, July 30 - ....New Jersey names Roy Rogers assistant coach.
My takes: .... Roy Rogers food might not be good for the Nets players.

Recapping the NBA summer transactions wire - John Burkett, MVN Outsider

Half of these are just jokes, but feel free to give your own takes of each move....so far. (sorta why I made this thread)

I tend to agree with most of his (serious) opinions, except for the lack of an opinion on the Marcus Williams trade. Marcus Williams sucks.
