Anyone want to do one of those "re-do the 2017 draft" things? Only the more accurate way to put it would be "rank the players taken in the 2017 draft as they are right now" because if you ACTUALLY re-did the draft, you would have to take into account team needs, and who cares. Here it is:

Biggest riser (other than maybe someone undrafted): Flint's own Monte Morris.
Biggest faller: Josh Jackson?

I think it was a podcast with @BonesJones that I went on saying I thought D-Fox was the my darkhorse for best player or something like that even thought Fultz would go #1. Not sure if it was that one or not. In one of them I had Fultz at #5 as far as future ranking but can't remember which. Maybe Bones has the archive somewhere.

That was @South East

I was saying that Tatum was the best player in the draft and that Donovan Mitchell could put up 19-20ppg as a rookie in Utah. Safe to say, I was spot on.

Anyone know how to get a ranking of all 2017 draftees by various stats, like PER or whatever?

I just wish neil had taken the guy I wanted with the 2nd pick, josh hart.

I think Mitchell was / is the best player in that draft, but time will tell. Still pretty accurate though.

Really hard to rank. Just not enough of a sample. But I'd have Zach as a top 10 guy still.

Very interested to see what a 23 year old Zach Collins will look like...

Brooks, Bell and Morris look like steals in the second round.

Toronto picked very well again in late first with OG Anunoby (I like how they built second unit with late firsts and undrafted players).

Between 11 and 20 everyone bar Mitchell and Collins, maybe Adebayo, has struggled. Monk has been a big disappointment so far.

Don't understamd why Olshey didn't go after Dillon Brooks. Wouldn't have had to go after Trent Jr. the next draft and saved us two draft picks.

I was all about Jordan Bell.

Biggie is really starting to feel like a Nolan Smith pick.
Well, Bell isn't looking so great this season. I read somewhere that Kerr had lost faith in him. With the departure of McGee he was supposed to slide into a starting role, but if anything his minutes have declined.

He seems to be one of the ones to make the biggest leap. We were all whining about him last year, but this year he's just night and day. Meanwhile the breakout stars last year look about the same - no giant improvements. (And Tatum's shooting isn't as good as it was.)

Yeah. we both were wrong about Smith JR tho.
At least so far.

Tatum's shooting regression was pretty predictable. Better shooter than he showed in college, but he wasn't going to shoot 43%+ from outside 10 feet again.

His defense has been great again though. And everybody talks about Jaylen's defensive potential, but I think Tatum is better overall on that end.

Still makes a ton of mistakes defensively...

And struggling as a defensive rebounder which makes it tough to play him at center and he doesn't have the skill level to play PF.

Still a valuable player in very specific contexts though.

I haven't totally given up on Harry Giles yet, but he just got sent down to the G-League after a bunch of DNP-CDs for SacTown.

Nigel Williams-Goss's contract with Partizan is up this summer...I feel like he's a great fit for the system as a 4-yr heady shooter...but UTH still keeps his rights.

Tyler Lydon ('CUSE IN DA HOUSE FOR MM!) has played 12 minutes in a year-plus and had his 3rd and 4th-year options declined. 24 pick. But they have him and Trey Lyles instead of Donovan Mitchell, so that's a plus...

Dwayne Bacon has looked (prematurely, I know) like he's breaking out for CHA

I’m fine with Collins pick, he was the right choice. It seems we really messed up that Swanigan pick because there was plenty of value drafted behind him. Lakers got two much superior players immediately after we drafted Swanigan. Kuzma and Hart would have been perfect here.

And Walter Berry, but at least we got Duckworth for him before he tanked.

obviously, you can do this for all 30 teams, but a stroll down memory lane:

1980:

10 POR Ronnie Lester 11 DAL Kiki Vandeweghe 12 NYK Mike Woodson 17 DET Larry Drew

1981:

15 POR Jeff Lamp 20 20 Larry Nance 24 DAL Jay Vincent 29 KCK Eddie Johnson 31 BOS Danny Ainge

1987:

17 POR Ronnie Murphy 18 NYK Mark Jackson 19 LAC Ken Norman 22 BOS Reggie Lewis

1993:

21 POR James Robinson 22 CLE Chris Mills 24 HOU Sam Cassell 37 LAL Nick Van Exel

1995:

8 POR Shawn Respert 10 MIA Kurt Thomas 13 SAC Corliss Williamson 15 DEN Brent Barry 21 21 Michael Finley

2002:

21 POR Qyntel Woods 23 DET Tayshaun Prince 26 SAS John Salmons 35 CLE Carlos Boozer

and of course, the classic, 1984:

2 POR Sam Bowie 3 CHI Michael Jordan 4 DAL Sam Perkins 5 PHI Charles Barkley 7 SAS Alvin Robertson 9 KCK Otis Thorpe 11 ATL Kevin Willis 16 UTA John Stockton
