Rich Cho out as GM!

Bring in Rick Adelman!

Wouldn't that be awesome or what?!?!?! I could see it now. Adelman improving the team, then mid season, he fires Nate and pulls a Pat Riley. Coaches the Blazers by default.

Blazersedge update

Rolling Update, 2:45 p,m.:

Blazers source says no timetable on replacing Cho. Possible team enters next season without full time replacement.
Blazers source says both assistant GMs will be retained as will current scouting staff.
Relationship between owner Paul Allen and Rich Cho seen as reason for decision.

Calm waters.

Buchanan doesn't inspire much confidence to me...

Just look at the last couple of drafts, bottom line POR track record is NOT good in drafts, the results don't lie....outside of Aldridge\Roy draft, POR has had very little success (Batum aside)...

2009 & 2010 in particular were horrible

HCP, can you confirm reports that Cho was seen sitting in the prctice facility parking lot, shortly after being fired, honking twice and laughing hystarically?

I so stole this comment, but it's hillarious so I thought I'd share

If you're a Canzano basher and listening to his show right now raise your hand...

[/facepalm]

If it's not one thing (usually being Greg Oden) it's another. Can this fanbase get a break from all this drama?!

Hey ABM -

Good idea to cancel that Cho meet & greet now.

When KP was fired, there was an argument made that no GMs will want to work with PA. Shortly thereafter, Cho was hired.

Now I'm reading the same concerns with the Cho firing. This may be a ownership issue, but I doubt they will have a problem getting a quality GM to replace Cho.

Agreed. Vulcan = dysfunction.

HOLY SHIT.

I go away from this site for a day, and this is what I get?

In about 10 years from now Cho will be a nice piece of Blazers trivia. The GM that signed a 3 year deal only to never take part in a draft.

I don't know if this has been posted yet:

Dude nails it.

Hmm... I don't think so.

First of all, I don't think the Blazers are an "embarrassment"... an embarrassment to whom? That's just silly to me.

And, not to be an asshole, but: who cares if Cho never gets another job? I mean... if he was unfairly fired, presumably his firing won't reflect poorly on him. If he was fired for being less than the Blazers need, then they SHOULD fire him. They shouldn't wait around another year or two so Cho's resume looks better after he's fired.

I think that the Blazers are making a mistake by zigging and zagging, but I am not going to overreact when so few facts are available.

Ed O.

Poor guy didn't even get to draft with PA's pockets at his side.

While Rich Cho never impressed me much, this just shows how Paul Allen and his meddling ways is ruining this franchise.

A slimy looking Larry Miller has said "chemistry" about 5 times in the last minute.

If only Roy and Oden had been able to stay healthy. We'd have a stable title-contending team and probably KP still in charge. It sounds like KP may not have been fired for pure performance-related issues, but I think the general disappointment afflicting the franchise probably made the firing easier. If they were challenging for titles, they probably don't make such a drastic change.

Oh well.
