wrist injury...rumors swirling

press conference at 3pm est

Everyone got excited by the big three in New Jersey saying with Kidd and all they'll make a push, but they haven't been having any success. When you watch games, all you see is Jefferson clanging and bricking shots, you look at the boxscores, where Kidd and Carter have good games, but you see Jefferson shooting about 33% or worse each game.

The past 8 games, he's shot 33% FG [47/141], averaged 18.4 points, and committed 3 turnovers a game, in addition to 6.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.

Man their goes the big three for NJ. Hope he isnt out for the whole season but if he is that team is going to be worse then the Hornets by the end of the season.

Man I want this not to be true.

This is terrible. He is one of my favorite players. This will hurt the Nets tremendously and I think Vince Carter and Jason Kidd have to step up their game if they want to win some games.

vince and kidd can take this team who needs jefferson we still got buford

Here is a link and a quote
New Jersey Nets star Richard Jefferson plans to have surgery on his injured left wrist and is expected to miss the rest of the season, ESPN.com learned Tuesday.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The surgery will happen in the next two weeks, and Jefferson faces a four-month rehabilitation process, meaning he will be out until at least late May.

Jefferson was injured Dec. 27 vs. the Detroit Pistons when Chauncey Billups was called for a flagrant foul for a midair shove on Jefferson in the second quarter. Jefferson landed hard on his side and stayed down for several moments, but stayed in. An MRI exam showed a ruptured ligament in his wrist.</div>

Good news for me but, bad news for the Nets. I really think Carter will be able to prosper now that he is the only option. He might give you maybe 28ppg now that Carter is gone, and he has Kidd running the show for him. The Nets will no doubt miss Jefferson's service the question is can they reach the playoffs? I highly doubt it and now that they do not have a frontcourt they will be in some serious trouble. The Nets already traded some valuable pawns when they got back Carter so a trade to fill in Jefferson's absence will probably not take place. What I really think the Nets need to do is do their best and if they don't make the playoffs at least they have 2 1st rounders and can get some solid rookies in the draft. Huge loss for the Nets, arguably their best player, and will really suffer. All of you Nets fans I am really sorry and 02civic I am too. Maybe we should discuss it. PM me to change things up.

Worst comment OF ALL TIME. PERIOD.

Jason Kidd, your time in New Jersey is NOW offically up. It's that simple. With Jefferson out, certainly so are New Jersey's chances of making any noise even in The Eastern Conference. Now, after aquiring Vince Carter, New Jersey is still capable of filling arenas even without Jason Kidd on their roster. So they'll pay Vince Carter, he'll put people in the seats, than they'll move Kidd and free their franchise of the burdens his salary brings. There's simply no reason to keep him around any longer...

Whoa. Major setback for the Nets. Someone has to step up in his place if they want any chance of making it into the playoffs. Does this mean that JKidd will re-iterate his demand to be traded? I know Carter is talented but he still doesn't make up the 18 points per game RJ would have brought.

I hope RJ can come back full force next season. Good luck Nets.

This is a huge blow, but as I said earlier, I did not expect too much from the Nets this season one way or another. Next season is what they should be focusing on...getting appropriate big men, and then working out an excellent offensive system.

This season the Nets can only accomplish one task: Have Carter learn the offense like he knows his own hands. The development of Kritic is also a vital thing to forus on.

I do not think, and hope that there will be no trades. They are not nessarry at the moment. Kidd should not complain about the managment mismanaging anything either. He should wait for next season to arrive and bring his all then. Its important that he does not wear him self out this season and just help the progression of Kristic and help Carter learn the offense.

You could easily tell RJ was struggling after the Pistons game. He fell in a major way on that fastbreak. I wouldnt be shocked if he made it worst by continously playing on it over the last couple of weeks.

You hate to say the Olympics had anything to do with it. But Honestly I think playing so much basketball over the past 2 seasons. And then carrying so much load earlier this season definately weaken RJ's body. And made him more acceptable to such a serious injury.

I think Vince Carter's statements he made a couple of weeks ago are truer then ever now. This season isnt really about making a run in the east or even it getting to the playoffs, its more about seeing how parts & peices fit with this team. And hopefully we get to see who meshes well together.

hrenvamhuy!?

OF COURSE the season is done for the Nets, But rather than focus on Kristic (loser) the should develope Buford and YES!! vince should learn plays and scalebrine needs to step up next season

Alright...RJ was NOT initially injured on December 27th against the Pistons, but against the Knicks on the 14th. If you watch the highlight of the foul you'll see that his wrist was TAPED.

Now, I really don't think I can prove it to anyone with a link, but it was on the Mike and The Mad Dog Show on YES this afternoon. They showed the play where he was hurt against the Knicks and RJ on the floor holding his wrist afterward. He walked back to the bench holding his wrist the ENTIRE time. Then I saw the Pistons highlight and noticed that his wrist was taped. RJ even looked like he knew his wrist going to get hurt again, he had "OH NO" written all over his face.

Why are they saying December 27? Maybe they lied to Jefferson in the first place, see where this Big 3 could go? Who knows.

Peace

This is very dissapointing. RJ is a hard worker hopefully he won't let injuries like this keep his career in jeporday. Get well RJ and see you next season.

be funny to see how long it takes for vince to be discouraged by the losses, and starts giving less then 100% and demanding a trade

poor jeff...he was headed for and already having a huge season

Its a good thing that it is not left, non-shooting wrist, he'll definily get over this injury.....its a good thing that he will get a good rest though.

There goes my prediction of the Nets going to atleast the eastern conference finals in the worst case
biggrin.gif
. Now I predict that they'll get eliminated in the 1st round by the Heat.

Sucks for Jersey. =[ Just when everything was lookin' good.

Even with RJ THe NEts had NO chance of going to the ECF or really anywhere. They would've gotten eliminated in the 1st round with or without RJ. Miami, Detroit, Indiana, Cleveland will all be better playoof time than the Nets.

Also This sucks BIG TIME for the Nets

The season isnt done for the Nets IMO. I just think they are the way they were before Carter came being that Vince could play SF. put the person who came off the bench behind RJ and they will be fine. Kidd and Carter can carry this team. NJ has been in more worse cases than this.

I think this is much more of a set-back for RJ than the team in a whole. Just when he was having a career season, an ALL-STAR season, everything he worked so hard this season is over. It's really too bad for him, and while this is a bad thing for the team, it's a really, really bad thing for RJ. Let's just hope he'll be in good shape next season. IMO, the Nets can STILL make it, like dee said. The east is looking worse than ever now, other than Miami and Detroit, the east looks terrible. The top team in the Atlantic is barely .500, while Indiana is playing their worst in the past three seasons. Cleveland and Orlando look okay, but not really amazing, Toronto is dismantled, and Philly and Boston are looking ugly. The Nets can still get 8th or 7th seed, in my opinion, it will be:

1.Miami Heat
2.Detroit Pistons
3.New York Knicks
4.Orlando Magic
5.Cleveland Cavaliers
6.Indiana Pacers

After that, there are no real threats for the playoffs by any other team. So NJ can still make it, everybody is forgetting that even though we may not have 3 all-stars now, we still have 2. Carter and Kidd are still great, and Vince is looking comfortable here in Jersey right now. Buford can score 10+ in the starting lineup, but a big role falls on Collins, Krstic, and Scalabrine when he comes back to score more. We'll have to wait and see how well the Nets can get used to playing without RJ, but I think they can still do it.

The Wizards died? The Wizards will get 4th or 5th seed.

IMO, the Wizards will cool down by playoff time, and will probably get the 7th or 8th seed, whichever the Nets don't get.

I think the Nets are done now. With this happening, I don't know if the Nets will make the playoffs, and if JKidd thinks that way, I wouldn't doubt to see him gone now. All I know though, is that they're gonna be in some big trouble now. RJ was a huge part of that teams offense and without him, I think they'll be struggling big time.

I dont think we are done. Rod Thorn is has some chess moves he can make to keep up in the hunt. The word is already swirling about the possiblity of Jim Jackson returning to Jersey. Now I dont know how much truth there is yet because of the past relationship between Kidd & JJ from their early days in Dallas. If we can get JJ and him & Kidd can get on the same page, I think that would be an excellent move for us. I think he would be a nice fit in the starting lineup to be a compliment next to Carter, cause he can defend pretty well, space the floor for Carter to get to the hoop. And he is willing to except a 3rd string role behind Carter & Kidd now, something he wasnt willing to accept earlier in his career behind Kidd & Mashburn.

So if we can get Jim Jackson and a decent big body, like a Cliff Robinson or a double-double guy like PJ Brown, I think we would still have a legit shot at the playoffs.

I don't see Washington slowing down, we don't even have our full lineup back from injury yet & the second half of our schedule is easier then the first. 4th or 5th place IMO.

I think Chicago will get that last spot.
