Ride the tank

I think it's far too early to tell with that. Unless you are coaching elementary-school kids with no skills whatsoever, you don't see significant changes in their ability in a month. Give it time. Some of these guys might not ever get it. Some of them might be a lot better at the start of next season.
I'm not even talking about seeing improvement. I'm saying I haven't seen a focused ATTEMPT. The example that brought this up was that Meyers should abuse smaller players in the post. I'm not asking for him to abuse players in the post, I'm just asking that the coach attempts to use Meyers in the post on occasion. Likewise with Plumlee/Davis/Vonleh. Let them put some reps in and see if they can't get better. Plumlee makes things happen from time to time with his dribbling skills, but it seems to be more a function of Terry's Green Light, than a concerted effort to get Plumlee touches. And we still haven't really seen much Pick/Roll to speak of - that was something I was really excited about, with the subtraction of LMA and addition of Plumlee/Davis.

The only "development" I've really noticed is that Terry is letting CJ and Aminu handle the ball.

How's this for a realistic comparison:

Vonleh reminds me of Oden, but without being able to physically dominate anyone.
The other one is: he reminds me of a Jerm as a Blazer, but not as good...and Jerm was BAD as a Blazer.

Sure, Oden would have been great if he could have stayed healthy, but aside from dominating guys due to his size Oden was painful to watch. And sure, eventually Jerm became very good. But Noah doesn't look like successful Jerm, or hypothetical Oden - he looks like clueless Jerm and awkward Oden.

Basically, Vonleh is awful right now. And just for shits'n'giggles I ran a comparison against Ha:

Thanks for providing this. I been all over this site saying Vonleh sucks and get bashed for it. The guy does nothing out there and yet he gets a pass because hes young. Like thats the automatic qualifier of him going to be good. For the 100th time if a team trades a top 10 pick in less than a year, its a pretty damn good chance hes garbage.

Vonleh is a waste of time who does nothing but get you happy bc hes "young"

Patty Mills, Kawai Leonard, Boris Diaw, David West...it's a long list of guys that weren't drafted there

As indicated above, Leonard was acquired on Draft night...like Brandon Roy so to me, that is a Draft acquisition player. Of course there are some filler guys that they didn't draft but the majority of their impact players are all Drafted/Draft acquired.

My personal opinion?
The Trail Blazers are not a lucky franchise or set in a big market. We will never get Jordan,Lebron or Durant in the draft even if they literally fell in our lap.

We are the kind of franchise that creates it's own luck. We'll take Drexler at the #14 pick, we'll take Lillard with Brooklyn's pick.
Our model are teams like Indiana,Memphis and 2004 Detroit, we'll have to scrap and hustle our way to the top.

I think you guys are homogenizing free agents too much as well, i mean ffs, Monroe and Jabari Parker chose to play at fucking Milwakee because of their own personal reasons.

If you mean specifically at attempt by Meyers to post up a smaller guy, yeah, I'd agree. And I haven't seen any of that this year, and I'd hoped to ... there was a game late last season where Leonard posted up someone and he used a combination of moves that looked like something Kaman might do, so I've expected more of that this year.

However, Leonard's missed some time, and there might be other reasons we haven't seen this become part of his game, yet. We don't know what might be going on in practice, and I am going to give the staff the benefit of the doubt for at least another couple of months before assuming they aren't planning to add that to his game. You might be right, but I'm not going to presume it yet.

The Wizards drafted Kwame.

The Clippers drafted Michael Olowokandi

The Cavs drafted Anthony Bennett

The Blazers drafted Greg Olden

It goes on and on. How else do you see us wasting more of Dame's prime?

And I could make a list of all the amazing players that the Clippers passed on to take Olowokandi. We could have had Durant. Those teams were in the position to take those amazing talents. Are we in the position to sign someone like Kevin Durant? Are we in position to sign someone like Vince Carter in his prime? I trust Neil to get the job done if he's in the right spot.

We are in a position to sign guys like Billups,Tayshaun Prince, Zach Randolph. We are in position to steal guys like Ben Wallace,Rip Hemilton from other teams.

Nobody has been arguing that Vonleh has been good. Of course he gets a pass because he's young, big guys almost always take time to develop.

I forgot to post this last night, but back by popular demand....

"Are we not Plucccccckkkkky?!"

Most of our starters should be bench players

Chasing FAs who will never sign here and then throwing ridiculous money at the guys nobody else wants?

I liked what I saw from Meyers in his first game back from his injury. Especially his passing -- his form and delivery literally reminded me of Sabonis (light). And I have never bashed him. You can look it up. ;)

Meyers is still a ways away, but I still think he is going to get there. I also like the way he is starting to carry himself on the court, with more confidence (more sure of himself without having to think about it) and less like a lost puppy. ;)

Plus, he produces pretty darned good numbers for someone who is completely lost half the time...

speaking of Meyers, has anyone heard from Mediocre man recently?

I didn't say you need to wake up, but how many top 20 guys are available for trades?

Really? read Below...

People who judge fans for accepting and rooting for tanking need to wake up. It's no better or worse than fans who are still rooting for the playoffs. They're still fans. They're still supporting the future of the team. They're still watching the games and rooting for the team. They just have a different outlook than you. The fans that completely check out on the team when they're losing are the fans that suck. They buy up the tickets when the team is successful. They make excuses for why they come and go. They flooded the market with playoff tickets after we got down 0-2 to the Spurs.

Nearly, 20 games in.

The only guys here I see as potential starters are Plums and maybe Meyers. You think any of these guys will turn into stars? Or build up enough value to draw a star in trade?
Cj has proven to be a decent starter even if we could use him more as a 6th man. Point you keyed in on the point yourself. We are only 20 games in. Not even a quarter of the season. Cant expect guys to turnbthe corner overnight.

And they conveniently forget that our recent resurgence (both times) were on the backs of Roy/Aldridge and Dame/Aldridge. Where did those players come from?

Aldridge #2 overall draft pick.
Roy #6 overall draft pick.
Dame #6 overall draft pick.

While we traded for all three picks, they were still Blazer rookies. We didn't sign them as free agents, and in the case of Roy and Aldridge, we only traded up a couple spots to get them.

And why cant we trade up to get that pick again? Why do we have to lose to get the pick? Why cant we take the pick we have and trade along with a guy or two who doesnt fit with our team and move up in the draft. Sooo many options. Its not all about losing....

Yeah, if you're judging fans then you need to wake up.

Yeah, if you're judging fans then you need to wake up.

See, I think no one is judging those who think we should tank... however I think the ones who want us to tank are the ones judging us who don't and are more optimistic.
The last month or two, it seems there have been many more posts from those that are pessimistic calling the optimists out in a fairly harsh fashion. Calling us delusional, etc.

Im just calling you out because you said you didnt say something when you did. All good though. ;)

I never said that you specifically need to wake up. I said that fans who are judging other fans need to wake up, so apparently you self-identified with that group :devilwink:

Well,. I HAVE been pretty vehement regarding my opinions, lol.
