I would have given more than Kyle Anderson for Bogdan!

Wait, future picks are quite worthless here aren't they?

Yeah....other than saying look at the assets I built up

There goes half my leverage as a Clippers GM. I have future picks and a bunch of expirings. Not going to do much trading I guess...

Are people playing without reading the rules?

In the 1st post of this thread I explain that:

Please, please, please think about your team's future. It would be very easy to trade away 4 future unprotected 1sts but then you'd likely become the Nets and no one wants that. Lets pretend that in the future we will continue this game so you don't want to screw your team over.

I mentioned this above but I really hope people treat their teams like a real GM of that team would. You're certainly allowed to do whatever you want but for example it is extremely unlikely that the Bucks would trade Giannis or the Nuggets would trade Jokic, etc. I'm not saying you can't trade those guys, I won't stop you, but these things get crazy enough without doing stuff like that so it's hard to keep them somewhat realistic. Treat future picks for their actual value and not just some throw away because you don't have to face the consequences for carelessly trading them away.

We start anew each year. We don't continue so they are useless

Pistons/Rockets trade is dead. Apologies once again hoopsjock, I missed that Nene player option.

Pistons have

Luke Kennard
Reggie Jackson (17 mil expiring)
Langston Galloway (7 mil expiring)

all available, once again.

No reason to apologize. Trades are complicated.

Okay, I specifically addressed that by asking that you please not treat it that way.

What you're saying is basically a big fuck you to the game.

Sorry, I won't say anymore about it

How is getting a stockpile of future picks any different than drafting players that no one knows if they'll pan out or not? We can run a 2K simulation but we can't actually play the games so saying you accumulated a bunch of assets is the same as looking at a paper roster.

The only downside is that you don't get to actually draft someone.

Because I need young guys now to put around Zion. Not two and three and four years down the road. I need to build a young core.

I am not giving up Davis for 1 pick this year, three or four future picks and a take on an albatross contract nobody wants.

So your personal preference means they're worthless for everyone? I think a lot of people would agree that getting a "Nets" type offer for AD would be better for the Pelicans long term than getting a couple more 1sts in this particular draft.

They are worth something. Just not what I am looking for.

Okay, but you just told someone else that his future picks are worthless. Plus if you're not getting enough for AD you could always ask for a crap load of future picks and then trade those picks for stuff you do want.

I apologize. He just doesn't have a workable package. I have tried to get other teams to take future picks in other trades. No takers. I feel like if I do that, no one will want them. I will be stuck with a bunch of future picks and an empty roster

But your original response was to him just asking a general question about future picks. It didn't have anything to do with AD. Like I said, I totally get if your preference is to get more immediate satisfaction but that doesn't have to be the case for the other 29 teams.

Ok. I apologized

I know, I'm just making sure people understand that you are making that decision to not want future picks and that your response was for your team.

Fine. The response was for my team. If someone else wants to take three or four future picks from bones for their star player, by all means.
