RIP Daniel Berrigan

He was one of my heroes when I was in my teens. He inspired many to take a stand in protest. Later, I rejected pacifist philosophy but admired individual pacifists. Unfortunately, unlike many other radical Catholics, he accepted Church teachings on women's reproductive rights (like, we have none), so inconsistent with his support for justice.

But if anyone deserves to rest in peace it is Daniel Berrigan.

If the media had played up the Berrigan brothers, millions of religious Americans would have stood up to fight. So the media kept their lives very, very quiet. About every 5 years, I would see some tiny mention in the mainstream news.
