OT RIP Evoca TV

You need to stick to whatever it is you do for a living….pump gas, deliver pizzas, stripping…… But in the world of broadcast, more exposure means more money plain and simple my friend. The little logos on the unis…. The amount the Lakers and Knicks get is in a completely different ballpark than what OKC and Utah get.
End of conversation….you are day drinking and I need to go to work even though we landed only 10 hours ago. Time to make the donuts Sly or whatever it is you do in the real world.

Do they make money, even if "new" viewers in Washington and Alaska aren't watching? Do ratings matter in what they make?

It seems like even though they opened it up to people in Alaska to watch, who aren't likely to watch, they froze out actual fans here in Oregon by taking away several options while adding back 1 (2 if you count Evoca which is already going out of business).

There is a reason why they don't put up Rolex ads in homeless camps. Just because more people see the ads doesn't translate to more sales.

Yes it does. The higher the TV ratings the more demand it creates. Advertisers want their commercials in the programming with the best TV ratings = more viewers.

And what are the ratings for Blazer games when they are on Root's main channel vs the Ocho?

Are the Blazers getting new fans from Root's service area outside of Portland and Oregon?

I would wonder what the historic ratings are for Blazer games broadcast outside of Oregon, vs those in Portland.

I.e., maybe worry about your own market having as complete coverage as possible before you give yourself a hand (job) because you got Alaska, Idaho and Montana...three historical hot beds for Blazermania...

I'm not sure about ESPN, but for TNT it just gives you these stupid camera angles and no commentary. So for that, it's sailing the high seas

Listen my friend, on Comcast the sports channels start at channel 720 and go to 736.

Roots' Ocho is 1253.

12... 53...

So if someone is home on a Saturday night and starts to scroll through the sports channels to find something to watch they're not going to scroll from 720 and stumble on the Blazers.

Your argument is that more people have access to the Blazers so the Blazers will get more fans.

And I'm trying to figure out how? ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U are all in that 720 to 736 real estate. Roots 2 is not.

And they didn't even bother to list it as a Trail Blazer game, just basketball.

So sports fans aren't going to stumble onto the Blazers, only people who are looking for reruns of the Golden Girls.
Rumor is the Interpretive Dance Sports Network is going to sneak in at channel 7.5 OTA.

What THIS chic said!

Latest from Evoca is they are still fighting and hopeful.

They are supposed to send out another update before the year is out.

I hope they can find someone. It'd be awesome if the Blazers swooped in, and helped...but I know they won't (nor do I think it makes $$ sense for them to do it)

I heard they ran out of money. Wonder what they will update you with.

I don't think contractually can help out, but idk.

Yeah, got the same email. That sucks. I guess I won't be watching anymore games (I ain't paying 70 bucks for fubutv, in addition to what i pay now, for a crappier channel selection).

Shit. Might have to switch to direct TV or won't be watching anymore after tonight.
