Utah and Lakers have been discussed so I figured I would throw out something a little different.

NJ to Chicago:
Jefferson
Boone
KVH

Chicago to NJ:
Nocioni
Gooden
Sefolosha

Nets get tougher and better defensively. Chicago saves some money by buying-out KVH contract and can re-sign Gordon and/or Deng.

Portland sends:

Raef LaFrentz expiring contract
1st Round draft pick this year
Jarret Jack

NJ Sends:

RJ
Hassell

Portland gets RJ who they wanted since last year. NJ clears a lot of cap, gets a lottery pick this year and a good backup pg for next season.

I'm not a Howard fan. I think Jefferson is better. If Stackhouse was half the player he used to be that deal would be worthwhile.

Howard was an All-Star, makes less money, has a shorter contract and his best friend plays here.

I'm sure he and Sean Williams will get along, too.

Stack can take a buyout if he wants. If not he can play with Carter. I'm sure they're tight.

Jazz trade:
Andrei Kirilenko
Mehmet Okur
Morris Almond

Nets trade:
Richard Jefferson
Josh Boone
Keith Van Horn
Dallas 08 pick

-----------------------

Rockets trade:
Bobby Jackson
Shane Battier
Luis Scola
Steve Francis
Luther Head

Nets trade:
Richard Jefferson
Josh Boone
Marcus Williams
Keith Van Horn

best trade offer so far.
Ghoti, imo your offer for Howard and Stack is the worst. I've seen Howard more than ever this year and I'm totally not impressed. No jumper, ball hog... completely chocked in the playoffs. RJ > JH

1)Josh Howard + Brandon Bass

for

RJ + Nets 08 2nd round pick

2) RJ to the Sixers for a large 11-13 trade exception + Sixers 08 first round pick and try to get either Jason Smith or Thaddeus Young

If the Nets tried to trade RJ for Howard before the season Dallas would have laughed in their face.

Guess what? They are the same players now as they were then.

You can't go out and trade a mediocre player for an All-Star when the All-Star is on top of his game.

This is the last opportunity to trade a bum like RJ for Howard because Howard won't be playing for Avery Johnson next year.

Um..... Avery is NOT IN DALLAS ANYMORE!
but i agree Howard has been an allstar and rj hasnt. Howard played consistent in his entire career. The past few months hes been playing horrible. maybe because of a back injury? who knows. But he is not on top of his game now and his value is on a all time low. Now would be the right time to get him. My only concern is his drug abuse.

How about RJ+Mwill for AK47 AND Millsap? Idk just a thought.

I thought RJ became more of a selfish ball hog that can't play defense?

Howard can become the player he was, but Jefferson can't?

Who cares? Cheaper player, younger player, more durable player, shorter contract. And I think Howard is much more likely to regain his form from a few months ago than bighead RJ is from three years ago.

Ah, okay. I see now. That makes more sense.

Think there's a correlation between Devin getting traded and Josh's inconsistent play in the 2nd half of the season?

That's my bad! (I had a sneaking suspicion but it takes forever to research something like that on my phone.)

Howard has two less seasons and a whole lot less wear and tear then RJ, though.

Actually, Howard's age is another reason there is a slight chance the Nets can sucker Dallas into this.

ghoti, let me take a wild guess: you don't like RJ?

No, I really do. He was a terrific kid and worked unbelievably hard. He really dedicated himself to doing anything he could to help the Nets win, and they did. A lot of that success was because of him.

I'd guess every Nets fan on here was proud of him and considered him a great representation of what the Nets should be about.

I'm just really disappointed in how he's handled himself and the way he let outside influences affect the way he plays.

The "me" attitude, the lackadaisical play, the lack of preparation and commitment, the sarcasm and snarkiness, the lack of competitiveness. It just makes me sad.

He really needs to move on.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Josh Howard had a worse series off the court than on it, and that's hard to do when you shoot 29 percent while your team gets booted in five games.

His picked the poorest possible time to make radio reefer confessions, making his fondness for marijuana a national story the afternoon of Game 3. And J(o)-Ho didn't learn by causing that silly distraction. He handed out flyers for his birthday party in the locker room after Game 4, a crushing loss that all but ended the Mavs' season.

Avery Johnson, who had a reasonable no-partying-during-the-playoffs rule, was livid when he learned about Howard and a few teammates living it up on the town. That's why he canceled what would have been the last practice during his Dallas tenure.

"That's new news to me," Howard said this afternoon.

J(o)-Ho mentioned that he'd already apologized for his radio appearance, but he didn't sound like a guy who regretted his actions. "You only live once," said Howard, who is still the Mavs' best chip (other than untouchable Dirk) on the trade market.

He also stressed that he's not a "bad person." And he's right. But he was a terrible teammate during this series.

And he was awful on the court, too, but he seems to think his horrible shooting was just bad luck.

"I couldn't make the shots that I've been making," Howard said, giggling at a question about how the Hornets defended him. "They went up and just hit the side of the rim or went in and out. You can't control what the ball do. Crazy, man. Y'all hilarious."

With that, Howard's off-season officially began. When the smoke clears, he might not be a Maverick.</div>

I don't want this guy anywhere near my Nets.

Didn't Howard also just admit to offseason marijuana use? That's exactly the opposite of the type of player I want Sean and Marcus around this offseason.

The first trade with Chicago wasn't bad but I'd prefer subbing Sean for Josh due to the fact that Gooden is a PF who would eat up minutes stunting Sean's growth anyway...Boone is more of a center and therefore would still be useful to us.

The Portland trade is overall the best trade though.

and you want to trade for JH who is the epitome of these qualities? Seriously, Ghoti, I don't get it. And if you stressing JH is a former all-star, I got one more former all-star for you. Jamaal Magloire.
