That's fine. My original post was not meant to say that this thread has to stay absolutely laser focused on just what happened at the RNC--just that I don't want this thread also sidetracked into dissertations on the flaws or strengths of a specific poster.
Trump probably already feels like he lost the most important election--the ratings election.
At this point, it's a bit early to have already lost the ratings election. Wouldn't ya think?
i am beginning to wonder if the time spent debating issues in this country hasn't become a complete waste of time until after the coming election and the defeated agendas might be reflected upon in order to discern why the public chose whom.
For the conventions? Why is it too early?
I was simply making a joke about the ratings for the conventions, since they're kind of the Super Bowl of TV/media events in the campaign.
right. unfortunately the Romney defeat, the "autopsy" and the proposed need for voter outreach was proven wrong during the last presidential cycle. anything short of a decisive, uncontestable outcome/mandate will likely lead to the same in the losing party.I think you may be right. Everyone's pretty hardened in their positions--while this is a long-term trend, people becoming more and more polarized, this election in particular I think has left a very very small group of truly undecideds (among people who care at all). Until one side "loses," forcing something of a reckoning, there's not much room to move.
But! There's still all the memes and jokes in the meantime.

Please stay on topic. Please keep this on topic and not about specific posters. In this thread, I'll delete posts from anyone (and that means anyone!) who continues the previous poster-specific discussion or starts a new one.
Thanks!

Thanks!
Sorry for going off topic to get you back on topic.
There are facts and there are alternate facts. Kind of a stupid thing to come up with and yet there are idiots who go for it just because of the source.Trumps speech was a bunch of fanciful narratives complicit with alternate facts. When Obama/Biden left, the economy was on a upwards trend. There was no recession in sight. Trump actually enjoyed the benefits of Obama's economy hjs first few years in office. Trump did not create the greatest economy ever. Not only did he destroy our global economy by casting aside our friends and creating trade wars with China, he destroyed our national economy by giving the largest ever tax breaks to the rich, further dividing the wealth gap in America. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. While millions lost jobs and were left to get evicted and go hungry, Jeff Bezos gained $200 billion in worth and became the richest man in the world. Most other rich people have seen their wealth rise too.
Bezos started the year with a "mere" $87 billion. So while tens of millions list jobs, thousands of small businesses closed, 180,000 died, 20 percent of parents worry about feeding their children he more than doubled his wealth. Bezos would have to lose 90 percent of his wealth to be as "poor" as Paul Allen.Trumps speech was a bunch of fanciful narratives complicit with alternate facts. You forgot to mention all those who no longer live in their homes and now live out of their cars.Bezos started the year with a "mere" $87 billion. The McCloskeys rock. So does the RNC.
I think you forgot to add "are as dumb as a " in that first sentence.
No. I didn't.
does this use of aborted fetal tissue in the regeneron anti body cocktail developement and research that the president just took conflict with your pro life stance? i know it does for many others.
So far, the administration has not budged on its rules around the use of fetal tissue, and while anti-abortion legislators have urged the president to similarly discontinue the use of embryonic stem cell research, under the pretense that an embryo is basically a fetus, that research venue remains intact. Regeneron’s public position is that it uses a “wide variety of research tools,” including stem cells, to develop its products, which it has noted “adheres to federal and state laws and regulations.”
But it also, according to supplementary material released by researchers in Science, “briefly” used a derivative of a common cell line called HEK 293 in the development of the therapy that would eventually be administered to Trump—cells originally cultured from an aborted fetus in the ‘70s in the Netherlands. HEK 293 has been used widely for decades in research and industry and enjoys the occasional controversy when, for instance, the Christian media discovers it might have been used in the development of a candy bar or diet soda. Most recently, it has become a focal point for pro-life opposition to some coronavirus vaccines.
so not conflicted at all? it was an aborted fetus that cells were harvested from during research and developement.I'm against abortion. Period. Let's discuss stem cell research vs. late-stage abortion, which Biden appears to support.

Why discuss one vs. the other? That seems like a deflection from an honest question to let's post an article that makes speculative jumps and assumptions instead of any sort of journalistic work, and then say I don't like killing babies! HEK293 – The HEK293 line is the original line established from a primary embryonic human kidney and transformed with sheared human adenovirus type 5 DNA. The E1A adenovirus gene is expressed in these cells and participates in transactivation of some viral promoters, allowing these cells to produce very high levels of protein.2
