I don't doubt it for a minute. This is yet another example of why I have gone from Stotts supporter to Stotts critic. I don't know why he got down on Layman to begin with - but he refuses to change his mind.

I don't think he got down on him. He often experiments more in the early season with bench players but eventually settles on a rotation.

Based on what the Lakers gave up for Bullock, the Blazers overpaid a bit.

Would you have done Trent and a pick for hood?
I wouldn't trade Trent for either but would've preferred Bullock over Hood if we were giving up two 2nds. Bullock is a better 3 point shooter and defender.

After seeing that trade last night the Blazers better be doing something with that extra roster spot to warrant the overpay.

Edit: Bullock comes with bird rights too, not that the Lakers will use that.

That's why I say, I see Connaughton trying to play PG. Same big body, same skills.
What the move really was (if there isn't a follow up move) is a low key suppression of Layman's value so we can re-sign him for cheap this summer. I hate that shit but unfortunately it's a game some front office people play.
Mid season trades are not just made for playoffs alone but for possible roster changes either before the deadline or before next season. This trade for hood to me probably means one or more of MO/ET/AFA are gone at least before next season starts. Could be others too.

You may be right and if that's the case why use resources on someone who would be difficult to keep if they play well? Like I mentioned, Bullock we'd have bird rights for or guys like Prince and Saric have one more year on their rookie deals.

I hope we're not done.

You might be reading too much into it

Hood will be an unrestricted FA this summer with a cap-hold that by itself would push Portland over the tax-limit. There's no guarantee at all that Portland intends to re-sign him or that he intends to re-sign in Portland. Right now, all this looks like is Olshey bringing in somebody who might fit in the bottom part of the rotation for the rest of the season to replace a couple of players who weren't; Hood might be more aggressive offensively than Harkless, for instance, but that's not necessarily a good thing if his efficiency sucks, and he's a bad defender with a T-rex wing-span

I'd like to think that Olshey has something else cooking but if he did, we wouldn't have seen all of the normal suspects playing last night

Tobias Harris hit a game winner hours before being traded.
Svi played for the Lakers in garbage time last night.
Reggie Bullock played last night.
Landry Shamet played on TNT last night.

Doesn't mean shit if our guys played.

I’m looking forward to watching hood play tomorrow.

I'll take his word for it that he is excited. If he can't make a splash as a motivated upcoming FA and in Stotts' system then ...

After slowly plowing this idiot Jack Winter's ambiguous writing style, I'll summarize the theme to save you from deciphering the same:

The crappy author swings between saying that Hood should take the minutes of Harkless, and Leonard.

Whew. I'm glad I'm done reading this one.

the headline made me LOL

yeah sure, Hood taking minutes from Harkless and Meyers will change Portland's identity. Hood will morph into Paul George sometime this weekend

Nothing groundbreaking here; just great to hear more brilliant exposition from our franchise's esteemed leader.

Ughhh I knew he'd try to overhype Hood

Is he that stupid, or just a Trump level liar? Does it even matter? At this moment, I can't think of a single reason why I should continue to care about a franchise that doesn't give a damn.

Not sure what is wrong with that. Everything he says seems to be true? He does fit the time line. He does play the position that this team is most vulnerable at. And most everyone i have talked to likes the guy also.
So what gives?

Never trust a slick salesman.

I do think both of his deadline trades were positives for Portland though. I'm just going to ignore his spin and rely on my own judgement.

I just am not seeing a "Spin" here?

I honestly don't get the hate? Is it Hood you all hate or that Olshey traded for Hood? He hasn't even played a game for the Blazers yet?

Imagine what would happen if Hood went for a 50 burger in his first game. Everyone on here would freak out.
