Rodney Hood a Blazer

SG: CJ - 35, Hood 13
SF: Harkless - 15, Turner - 24, Layman 9

Doesn't seem like many minutes for either Harkless, Hood or Layman...

...unless there is another move coming.

Hood will get his 25+ minutes. The “easy” move here is to dump Turner

Hood > Prince.

Better decision maker on both ends. Most of Hood's defensive issues are physical, Prince fucks up more often.

Prince looks good some nights offensively but plays outside of his abilities far too often.
Prince is a year younger and still has a year left on his rookie deal though. Plus he's on a bad team whereas we've seen Hood on good teams.

Low risk move that clears a roster space to bring up one of our rookies. It's not like Nik or Baldwin were sniffing the floor. Anything this guy gives us is a bonus. And the 2nd round picks? Those can be bought.

Stotts will not "dump" Turner unless he's traded. That much has been made clear.

If only....

Since he and Holiday are BFF's, and New Orleans seems to want to build around Jrue, of course I'd like to involve Turner for the unicorn AD trade. However, perhaps something like this is more likely.

Turner/Harkless -for- Mirotic/Hill.

The Pels get Turner who would fit nicely with Holiday both on and off the court. The Blazers get Mirotic who fits Stotts offense very well and for taking on Hill's contract, don't have to include a 1st round pick in the deal.

Long time no see maxiep. You still in Colorado?

Don’t think the Pelicans would be interested in that. Don’t think Portland would want Hills contract either. A more realistic trade would be Turner and a first for Mirotic and Wesley Johnson’s expiring. Bulls had to take on Asik to get a first for Mirotic last year. This is similar.

Fair points. But Prince has been a bad decision maker since college so not sure how much being on a good vs bad team changes his play style.

Also sounded like he would've been more expensive.

Probably more likely. I just hate giving up a 1st round pick for a guy who may come off the bench....and may be gone in 4 months.

can we trade him again is a deal with another player? and would he have to approve another trade like he did this one?

I'm too tired to search for this stat (if it can be found).
Can anyone get me his stats at SF vs SG vs PF (if he played any)?

I just heard about the trade. I don't think Hood is any good. He's inconsistent, and even at his hottest, is barely competent. I don't get it at all. I don't mind losing the 2 players, but I want the picks back.

I'll have to read this thread.
Can always count on you for the ridiculous take of the night!

This trade is rock solid and kind of reminds me of the Afflalo trade cept you got Hood much cheaper but let's hope it works out better since AA pretty much sucked for the Blazers.

Yeah there’s also much less downside here considering what we gave up in the two trades.

The mold I want is an excellent dribbler, a creator. And a better shooter. But as I've now posted about 3 times, I'm hopeful he'll do better in the Stotts system.

As for "size and length," you made that up. I've said just the opposite--to, if necessary, convert a 6-6 SG into a SF. Olshey tried this trick with Turner and then Stauskas. So much for your height comment.
What? Bruh. This dude is a very solid ball handler and creates his own shot consistently. A better shooter? He's a career 37% 3pt shooter... You expected a great ball handling player who shoots 40% from 3pt who can create his own shot and plays for others?

So essentially you wouldn't be happy with anything less than Paul George.

Yes, I've felt the hatred from you for a few months. I'm a distraction from your war to get HCP off the board. How's that going?
Not hatred, you just have some ridiculous posts. I don't know why you're making it personal.

And I dunno, how's the revolutionary war going?

Honestly, I think Stotts is one of the few coaches that could still get something out of Melo. I'm not a fan of Donovan and I think that Mike D didn't work with Melo in NY, I'm not sure why they thought it would work in Houston.

Why are his defensive issues physical? He's big, lanky, and had solid feet and athleticism. Seems to me like he should be a good defender.

Maybe he was just rusty the first couple of weeks of last season, but he missed shots in volume without conscience when I watched him. But that's the kind of player who fits Stotts, so I'm hoping he makes them here.
