Rodney Hood a Blazer

Why are his defensive issues physical? He's big, lanky, and had solid feet and athleticism. Seems to me like he should be a good defender.
Just an ok athlete, short arms, not super physical or strong. Kinda stuck in between positions defensively.

He looked solid vs Harrison Barnes in the post last night though.

Maybe he was just rusty the first couple of weeks of last season, but he missed shots in volume without conscience when I watched him. But that's the kind of player who fits Stotts, so I'm hoping he makes them here.
You didn't watch him enough. I'm not disputing that he's inconsistent. You said he's barely competent when he's "on". That's a ridiculous thing to say, in my opinion. When he's on he'll drop 30. When he's on he's terrific.

6'8/6'9 wingspan. 6'7/6'8 height. Not great wingspan to height ratio but he's tall and that's a solid wingspan in general for a SG/SF hybrid. It's not like many wings are going to post him or easily shoot over him if he's there defensively. Strength wise, he's weak but I don't think that's something that other wings really take advantage of. I see your point but I feel like it has to be more IQ and/or motor related.

Wish I would've looked up his wingspan because I called him "lanky" in my trade reaction video, but he seemed like he had much longer arms in the footage I watched.

Do you seriously think that's what he's saying?

Every move since then has been treadmill type of moves.

Correct.

Bones, you thought my anti-Olshey stuff was nonsense for years. This year, you're on my ship. But you're still in the habit of calling my opinions ridiculous. When will you learn. Lose your bad habits and recognize the savior in your midst.

I haven't liked Olshey for years, but I'm not going to completely stretch the truth, be illogical, or make up false narratives in order to complain about him. I just assume your trolling 75% of the time.

Yeah his frame gives you the illusion he's a bit longer than he is.

Good reach though: 8'7"

Getting Melo would be so underwhelming when guys like Mirotic and even Jabari are available.

I think I know what people think after they watch this highlight film.

In 293 regular season games and 28 playoff games, he has exceeded 30 points twice and hit 30 thrice. I can always count on you for your daily ridiculous takes.

Edit: 5 games divided by his 5 seasons. Where are my fingers. Okay. That's once per season he scores 30 points. Just in case you didn't notice.

I thought we’d go harder after Otto Porter. I suppose his team wanted more for him than the Cavs wanted for Hood. Won’t be surprised to see us pursue Mirotic.

Not me and i have seen several Atlanta games this year as i had league pass for a bit from my son. Why do you think i have only seen 2? As for Hood i may have casually mentioned him but the player i have coveted and have expressed in this forum is Jaylon Brown. I am aware that Hood can be inconsistent as well but the deal was such a low cost one that it made sense to take a chance on him.
Yeah, okay, so if you watched so many Atlanta games you wouldn't have seen him play much because he missed a good chunk of the season. If you don't like Prince that's fine but I guarantee you don't sit there and watch crappy Hawks games.

According to Sporting News the Wiz stated Porter was not on the block, but Olshey made an offer anyway. With some GMs, that would qualify as a "what have we got to lose?" move. With some GMs it would be a CYA move. (make an offer you know will be rejected, then whine that you haven't made any moves because all the other teams are mean and unreasonable)

Make your own decision which applies here.

That’s cool, too. Depending what you read, he is or is not available. I’m fine with the Hood deal. Porter interests me more. As I said right after the Hood acquisition, it feels like a precursor.

Sometime you just need to stfu. You don't know me and never met me so don't try and tell me what i watch. Ok?

Problem with Porter is his contract and what it would likely take to get him. I like him as a player though. My target would be Jaylon Brown.

Yeah, the price is what I talked about with original comment on Porter. Seems like we went for the cheaper option (which I completely understand).

Okay, so by your logic, if a guy can't consistently drop 30 points, he's not a help. Again, you seem to be unsatisfied with anything less than Paul George.

It's kind of ridiculous to use the total amount of times a player has scored 30 without any other context to gauge how good a player will be.

I don't know what else you expected for two 2nd round picks and two fringe NBA players.

And that would be way too much then, but if Boston is willing to deal maybe in a 3 way deal we can tap into like maybe an AD deal for Boston.
Boston can't acquire AD until the summer, when Jimmy Butler will be a free agent.

Has Harkless or Layman ever scored 30 in a game?

We didn't really trade away any assets that we would use for an Otto Porter Jr. trade.

Yeah. Exactly my point.

I can’t see acquiring both, though. I still feel like this move was made as a precursor to balance the roster out. I guess we have 4 days to find out! It’ll be more exciting than this Super Bowel!

I don't understand. Precursor to balancing the roster?

I think this trade makes it more likely that we make another trade. We have 6 bench players deserving of minutes now (Seth, Rodney, ET, Jake, Zach, Meyers). I think means it's more likely we're going to consolidate two rotation players for one to clear minutes for Hood.

Yes, i know and have felt all along that he likely won't be dealt till the off season unless they get an offer that blows them away.

Yeah. Exactly. A “precursor” before another move. We’re in agreement.
