OT Roe V Wade In Trouble

How many Supreme Court men? How many women?

In order to be heard by the Supreme Court, a law that restricts access to abortion first has to be passed by a state legislature and signed into law by a governor. I think Maris’s point is that men and women vote those elected officials into office.

Just to be clear here, since I have posted now a couple of times in this thread, I don’t support the anti-abortion laws that have been passed by these southern states. As a Christian, I have ethical concerns about abortion (particularly late term abortion), but I also recognize that we don’t live in a theocracy. I think Roe vs Wade’s right to privacy underpinning is an extremely poor basis for restriction of state’s rights. I think it’s likely that this Court will overturn it, at least in part, but I hope they don’t. It’s been the law of the land for too long and making a drastic change now will lead to a reduced view of the Court’s legitimacy and will likely tip off court packing processes that will damage it even further.

Trump us a raging antiSemite. He repeatedly tells Jewish Americans that Israel, not US, is our country, Netanyahu our prime minister. He called the large majority of Jewish Americans who vote Democratic disloyal to our country, meaning Israel. To him, America is white and Christian. The rest of us are others. Jewish Americans are part of Israel, not US. Obama couldn't really be American. He demanded four Congresswomen, three of whom were born here, be "sent back" to where they came from. Defended Muslim ban by saying immigrants who are Muslim can't assimilate even after several generations.
There is a reason Jews overwhelmingly opposed him.

It's my guess that American Jews are not necessarily high on Trump.....nor his evangelical supporters. I would also guess the majority of American Jews are not Republican.

I still believe he's well thought of in Israel.

At any rate, I've moved past Trump. I truly hope he decides not to run in 2024.

Yes, the whole board is trying to curry favor with me. Guess they really like my cookies. Or my hot bod.
The Big L says both. You, my dear, are what's known as the total package.
Did I just say that out loud?

Trump did not support Veterans. He tried to turn over tasks that were done by VA hospitals to the private sector.

Because the graft-ridden, third world healthcare VA failed to do them. Most disgraceful agency outside the intelligence agencies.

I've been using the VA hospital for 52 years now and my brother was also a 100% disabled Veteran during his service as a U.S. Marine. Back when I got out disabled in 1969 the VA hospital was terribly disgraceful but now after pretty steady imporvement it is probably the best health care in the world. I've used every department there except transplant some like imaging, hematology, dialysis, pharmacy, blood clot disorder clinic and optical hundreds of times and surgery probably 15 or 20 times not to mention cardiology and cancer treatment and others such as treatment for PTSD, so the difference between us on this subject is that I know what I'm talking about.

They took good care of my dad when he was alive.

They were doing studies to create treatments for veterans one time and I went up there and took part in a few of them. Gave blood and tested some medicine to support the troops.

No.

Effectively, he duped me, as well as many, many others. While I voted for the man....twice (generally, considering the alternatives at the time), I haven't defended him since just past the 2020 election.

If he won the Republican nomination for 2024, would you vote for him again in the general election?

I've already stated this a number of times in here. Absolutely not.
Yeah, I'm wondering when people will realize that you no longer believe in Trump.
ABM NO LONGER BELIEVES IN TRUMP. Shout it from the rooftop.

Looking for someone with better manners to outlaw women's health care?

Woman haters aren't waiting patiently for Trump McConnell court to outlaw women's health care. The Planned Parenthood facility in Knoxville, Tennessee, was burned down New Years Eve. Investigation ruled it arson.

Hey, it's Tennessee.

I was talking about for the stench to wear off on the country. The former guy is still an incredibly divisive force, still peddling outrageous lies to cover his own ass and enrich himself. It's shameful that Republican politicians are too cowardly to stand up to him.

ahh okay. Totally makes sense then. I thought you meant for individuals like ABM.

Oddly enough, there are plenty of folks out there who claim Trump is still president and that Biden is a puppet/imposter. Oh, and that John F. Kennedy Jr. is still alive! LOL

I'm not so sure I wanna be around in 2024. This is only gonna get worse. Seriously.

The Satanic Temple has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas Houston Division alleging that certain state-mandated abortion restrictions violate TST members' religious beliefs.

Texas Lawsuit
WHAT IS THE CASE?
On behalf of TST member "Ann Doe," TST is suing the state of Texas for imposing medically unnecessary abortion regulations including a sonogram, a forced decision to reject the 'opportunity' of seeing the sonogram results, the forced listening to a narrative of the sonogram results, and a mandatory waiting period between the sonogram and the abortion.

Doe performed TST's abortion ritual, a ceremonial affirmation of self-worth and bodily autonomy that integrates the abortive process. Prior to filing the lawsuit, TST's attorney sent a letter to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, which demanded an exemption from the abortion restrictions on behalf of Ann Doe. TST's attorney explained:

"The abortion ritual (1) requires an abortion; and (2) affirms her religious subscription to TST's Third and Fifth Tenets. But before Ms. Doe can get her abortion–and therefore participate in the abortion ritual–the government has required that she get a sonogram… [ These ] requirements substantially interfere with Ms. Doe's religious beliefs and practices for two reasons. First, the requirements are a precondition to Ms. Doe's ability to participate in a religious ceremony. It is a substantial interference per se for the state to place a regulatory hurdle–one that costs money–in front of a religious exercise. The state might as well tax and regulate Mass."

TST spokesperson Lucien Greaves says, "I am sure Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who famously spends a good deal of his time composing press releases about Religious Liberty issues in other states, will be proud to see that Texas's robust Religious Liberty laws, which he so vociferously champions, will prevent future Abortion Rituals from being interrupted by superfluous government restrictions meant only to shame and harass those seeking an abortion."

Why This Case Matters
This lawsuit directly challenges restrictive abortion laws that violate TST’s religious beliefs in a state that champions religous liberty through their implementation of Texas’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This case serves as the basis for establishing our claims to religious exemptions from abortion restrictions in states across the nation. We expect that Texas will respect our claims to religious liberty and permit Satanists their religious exemptions from medically unnecessary and unscientific abortion procedures that are designed to guilt and shame patients when receiving reproductive care.

Jokes about murdering babies are a pretty good indication of a sociopathic mind. Go ahead and Fact Check it if you doubt my veracity.
