The Bulls just signed Diamond Stone, giving them 4 guys at the center position. This is being reported as a possible preliminary move to make Rollo available to trade as a part of the Bulls' rebuilding efforts.

I think he'd be a nice acquisition by the Blazers as insurance against an injury to Nurkic. I'm not sure that there's a deal that would make sense to both sides though. Davis and Aminu work's cap-wise, but I think the Bulls are looking for young talent and/or picks. Leonard and Vonleh? Vonleh is a lot to give up, but digging out from under Meyers is a plus.

What do you think? Is Rolo a good target for Olshey and is there a reasonable deal to be made?

Sell me on why the bulls need/want Butters. Go! :D

Maybe I'm off but I'm not sure I want to bring in Rolo.
Collins didn't show much in SL, but he did show he has an ability to block shots against lesser guards.
If that is his one NBA skill right now I see no reason why he shouldn't be Nurk's backup. As Portland needs rim defense.

Nurk/Davis/Collins/Nards
Aminu/Vonleh/Swanigan
People might want something else, but I have a feeling this is how the depth chart looks in Stotts mind right now.

We effectively have 5 centers as is. (Nurk/Ed/Zach/Caleb/Leonard).

We need to clear this clutter, not add to it.
half those guys are PF's in Caleb/Zach and Ed even though Ed has been played at center a lot recently due to our lack of depth at that position. You can easily say the only true center of those 5 is Nurk.

Even so, the front court is plenty full even if you swing those three to PF with Aminu/Noah. We need better wings. Not more bigs.

I'm sure one or more of those guys would go in the trade. Zach isn't strong enough to play center and will likely get whatever spot minutes he does play at PF. Which one of Ed, Caleb and Leonard is nearly the defender that Rolo is?

Let me say that Rolo has been one of my very fave Blazers of recent years, but we just don't need him now we have Nurkic (unless he gets injured) and he's got a pretty sizeable salary now.

Here's an idea that even more people will loathe: I would trade for Joakim Noah IF our reward for taking him on was Frank Ntilikina.

I like where you are going, but you are wrong on Vonleh.

So was I.
I want him to do well, but......

Who else was at the Wells Fargo Invitational that NO addressed?
He gave a no media straight up answer on Swannigan and Vonleh.
He said Swannigan is already better than Vonleh.
With that knowledge and our depth, Vonleh will be used in a trade.

On the side, but NO also went on to discuss a few other things, like Melo. Its a 50/50 chance we will still get Melo. The inner Circle, NO/Dame/CJ, have been recruiting him hard all summer, talking with him daily, etc.
NO says its still very possible we have him for next year.

He also said that Kevin Pritchard is a grudge holder. NO went all out for PA and Pritchard didn't sign off, simply to show the Blazers up.
There is talk that not taking the trade might actually cost him his job by the end of the season.

Probably best in its own thread, but I have n time.
I will post a couple pics of NO this weekend.

Rolo backing up Nurkic would be a great move. IMO. Rolo is better than any other big on our bench, at least at this time.

They don't have a single SF listed on the trade machine and have a bunch of PG's??

Do we have a combo of players that we could send to somehow grab Rolo and one of their bigger guards etc? Better Defense?

Yooo these are some nuggets. Make a new thread now. Vonleh is so going to NY with Harkless if that Melo trade happens.

Very interesting scoop.
That would be funny if KP lost his job because of the Blazers.....again. I actually thought about it when the trade happened.

Can't believe NO would say that Swanigan was already better than Noah. (Regardless if it was true or not) Still don't think he is on D.

Also hard to believe he included himself in the recruitment of Melo. Is that legal?

This would be a great trade.

It would only be tampering if the Knicks hadn't given approval for the contact. I would think that they would be fully on board with anything that would get Melo out of NYC in return for some pieces that fit with their rebuild.

No way do the Knicks trade Ntilikina. They consider him their PGotF and one of the cornerstones of their rebuilding effort.

Yes, we have 5 centers, except Ed, Zach, Caleb and Leonard are not really centers. So in that sense, we only have 1.

Leonard and Swanigan for Lopez. Robin would be a great backup here, we'd unload Leonard who is a complete waste. I can hear a backlash from Swanigan lovers, but get real, that guy will never be more than a competent backup.

In the East he'll be an All Star...

...our statements are not mutually exclusive.
