Root Sports going under....

Mike Barrett had a personality??

I liked Barrett, but I think he falls under the Steve Jones category. Snapper did not have a "large" personality either, but people grew up listening to him and liked him. (myself included) Walton on the other hand has a huge personality and he still drives me up the wall after about 3 minutes.

Nah man, you don’t offend me. None of this does. Just hoping one day I can do my job as well as all of these guys do there’s.
After a lifetime of work, I am absolutely convinced that the ONLY job ANYONE can actually do well at is retirement…….and I am totally nailing it……..at least no one (other than my wife) has given me a negative evaluation in that regard.

There is no way the Blazers or the other NBA teams involved are going to sign an extended contract with ROOT with the NBA's new broadcast deal coming up.

Well, who else besides Portland and Utah would?

Gonna have to learn the difference between they’re, their, and there if you want to be as good at writing as me :devilwink:

If they didn't want to go under they should have called themself Branch Sports.

Root should get new ads with Cam and Matisse. They are still using Josh Hart in Blazers commercials.

when I was getting ready to retire I knew there was going to be a difficult adjustment phase for me....and there was a phase....it lasted about 8 minutes....and it wasn't difficult

the wife problem hasn't gone away though

Yep, after a long series of bad days (and months...and years....) about 10 years ago I made an instantaneous decision to retire without consulting my wife. I made it work with few, if any glitches but she still hasn't let me forget about it. But the monthly retirement and social security checks tends to tamp my give a shit meter waaaayyyy down.......

Honestly, I think had Paul Allen not died, he would've done something like that. Well, had he not become such a fraidy-cat once ACSN went belly up.

This is how it should be done anyways. The team should be offering a streaming option. I don't get why the NBA hasn't jumped on this for viewing games. If I'm willing to pay 15 bucks a month to watch Blazer games, I should be able to watch them wherever the hell I want, regardless of blackouts (which is such an antiquated way of dealing with broadcasting).

And if there are 100,000 blazer fan households and bars willing to pay the $15 per month the Blazers would make $1.5 million per month. Plus any advertising. $18 million per year.

It will happen soon. Shit the MLS just started doing this last weekend. $79 a year to watch every game in the league, any team, no blackouts.

Crazy not to, IMHO.

This is just a 4 year contract with Root, right? So, at worst, 2 more years before we have the option to switch...

Trail Blazers to air alternate broadcast for 2 games featuring Neil Everett, Terry Porter and Antonio Harvey

The Portland Trail Blazers will add two alternate broadcast crews to their broadcast of games March 17 against Boston and March 19 against the LA Clippers, both at the Moda Center.

The LegendsCast, the first-ever alternate broadcast produced by the Blazers, will feature Neil Everett of ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” who also does some pregame and postgame work with the Blazers, alongside former Blazers Terry Porter and Antonio Harvey.

The alternate broadcast will air on Root Sports Plus, while the regular crew of Kevin Calabro, Lamar Hurd, Brooke Olzendam and Cory Jez will air on Root Sports.

The broadcast featuring Everett, Harvey and Porter will include a rotation of former Blazers jumping in to share stories from their playing days.

“We are excited to expand our broadcast offerings and provide Trail Blazers fans with a fun and exciting alternate viewing option,” Trail Blazers director of broadcasting Jeff Curtin said in a statement. “Between Neil Everett’s energizing presence and the range of characters we will bring in with former Trail Blazers like Terry Porter, Antonio Harvey, and other surprises, Rip City fans will thoroughly enjoy a unique and engaging broadcast.

The Portland Trail Blazers kicked off their 40th anniversary celebration by visiting Mark Morris H.S. in Longview, Washington -- the site of the team's first game. Porter rejoined the organization this season as an alumni ambassador.

“I am very excited to be a part of the upcoming LegendsCast broadcasts,” Porter said in a statement. “Being able to swap stories with fellow Blazers alumni and talk about the evolution of the game of basketball for our Rip City fans is an opportunity I could not pass up.”

Everett, who still works for ESPN, began doing games with the Blazers on a part-time basis last season.

“The Trail Blazers are and have been so vital to Portland as a whole,” Everett said in a statement. “It’s important that connection with former players never be lost. LegendsCast is a big step in that direction. Plus, I get to hang with some of my heroes.”

Can we hire him to run the Blazers?
