Would you do it? Yao's contract is over at the end of the season. It could involve other pieces, but it would be a major reboot button move.

Why in the hell would Houston want to trade for Roy?

Would I do it? Sure. Is it worth discussing in terms of being realistic, though?

I've yet to see a single person offer one good reason why any team would trade a large expring contract for Roy, yet these these proposals keep cropping up.

Maybe Roy to someplace like Toronto or Minnesota which is willing to gamble on a three time all star!

If Roy's issues were in his head or he was a locker-room cancer type then I could see it happening, but his issues are a chronic, degenerative knee problem that can't really be operated on any more. That's not a gamble, that's called lighting 85 million dollars on fire in a burn barrel.

Well if Roy is that done, they should start the medical retirement paperwork now.

Medical retirement is for players who are physically no longer able to play. Roy can clearly still play....he's just done as a star.

Antoine Walker is a 3-time all-star and Babbitt is out-statting him. Any team can have him for free.

Will Brandon Roy play some day for the Idaho Stampede??

Stay tuned!! Only if he can make the team!!

Frickin squirrel turd!

If only. Instead he and the team are stuck in that limbo where most 35 year old veteran slashers find themselves at the end of their career. Dinged up and diminished, but still able to do just enough to qualify as an NBA level player.

If only Roy could accept his role as a washed up Michael Finley type.

Memphis proved that being physically no longer able to play doesn't actually meant no longer able to play.

I thought that due to his knee's not being insured that medical retirement doesn't save the team any money?

If he's on the insurer's exception list then what that really means is that if he took a medical retirement the Blazers would be on the hook for his full salary instead of 80% being covered by the insurer. In either case, if medically retires it's his salary coming off of the team's cap number that really matters -- that is to say the team still has to pay his salary, but he doesn't count when it comes to the tax or their pursuit of potential free agents.

I'VE GOT IT.

Step 1. Hire Darius Miles as our Asst. Coach specializing in guards. Impart his knowledge about endurance to Roy.

Step 2. Cho offers Roy to the teams which let Miles play in their preseasons and regular seasons. If they wanted Miles, they will want Roy.

Step 3. Get these teams into a bidding war for Roy. If Cho plays his cards right, he will cement his reputation. He and Tom Penn can push for a big raise together.
