So you are saying, that when it is all said and done, that Patty Mills will be traded? :ohno:

No way in hell. Paul Allen wants to have babies with Patty. If Patty wanted - he could demand a trade of Roy, Oden, LMA and Miller and it would happen!

I'd like to see Miller AND Roy traded...to the same team.

I'd laugh and laugh.

I was chatting about this with some friends. We were all kind of wondering if this isn't testing the waters to see how the team plays without Roy. We could easily be reading more into it then there is, but after the Dallas game the other night, there was definitely a stretch when Roy wasn't on the floor, and the team made a hell of a run to get back into the game. Coincidence? Possibly.

As mook has pointed out, Roy has played better when he's rested. I could see it as smart to purposely hold Roy out of some games, in order to allow him to play his best when he does play. It might even increase his trade value a little....not durable, but still capable of star turns with rest. That could be an intriguing piece for a near-contender.

Sort of like Santa and Greg Oden, Brandon may show up one day healthy but if he doesn't we'll all keep the hope alive.... hey I think I hear sleigh bells....

I think they should change the slogan from rise together to WISH TOGETHER!

Maybe it's just me, but your posts seem to have taken on an angry tone of late...

Ya know "IFFFFFFFFFFFFF" Oden does come back intact, this can still be a good team. I think Nick, Wes and LA are going to rise to the challenge, and throw in Oden next year and we'll be okay! I think the offense should go through Greg if healthy anyway much like they did with Shaq, than LA and Wes will be wide open. I've often thought that Roy would get in the way of Oden's development for all the touches Roy thinks he needs a game. Now we can see just how good Oden is and better than that Oden can come back as THE MAN the Franchise!!!

+1 and props for the positive outlook.
This is what we should be looking forward too. . . a TEAM orientated style (goodbye Nate and Brandon).

TEAM oriented, at least for me, mean that you don't have an "A" players, so you're scrambling to try and consistently score baskets. So, if 30-win seasons are your thing, I guess you'd be happy. I'd rather have Dwyane Wade (or a healthy 2008-9 Brandon Roy) on my roster and take my chances.

isnt irvin hurt? another injury prone player?

I guess he is now. Last I had heard it was just at toe injury and not serious, but after you mentioned it I went nosing around and found that they are concerned he might be out for season. It was more of a snarky "Draft here we come" comment more than anything. Basically he was considered top pick of the lotto until this happened. His first few games for Duke were magnificent.

Depends on the type of A level player. Having an "A" player doesn't have to exclude the rest of the team.
I was thinking more towards the team play of a Tim Duncan/Magic Johnson led team.
Out of those two : Dwayne Wade - yes, Brandon Roy - No.

No offensive black hole/defensive swinging turnstile on the team. . .

+1

I don't hold my breath over LMA taking the team over - but look for Matthews & Miller to bring it every night!

This is fantastic news. (Well, it's shitty of course if you aren't in the "Acceptance" phase of Roy's plummet. I've already been there for a couple of weeks, though.)

I keep thinking about how good Roy's looked in those three games where he's had several days of rest. I still hold out hope he can be useful to us, but it just isn't going to happen with him playing 37 mpg. He needs to take several games off, recover, and then get eased back into the rotation with more rational numbers of minutes.

Meantime, the timing is perfect for Aldridge to take over this team. He's coming off one of his best games ever, looking like a true franchise player.

Batum's energy is at an uptick, and Miller and Matthews are bringing it every night.

Hopefully the team will jell over this three game home stretch against mediocre competition. Roy comes back a week or so from now, having seen us rattle off three straight wins. We've got a little momentum going, so Roy accepts playing a lesser role and he explodes because he's well-rested and recovered and playing fewer minutes (possibly off the bench). The dye is cast for how we finish out the year.

This could be the announcement that turns this team around.

Excellent.

question is..... does he play xmas night on espn in front of national audience????

we really need that game since we have utah twice and denver upcoming. we could very easily be 15-18 by jan 1st.

What's your angle here? Would you rather he sat it out or do you think the team needs him?

Have you noticed that Roy is begining to sound like Boris Karloff?

I would rather he sat. I think we both know that Roy coming into and out of the lineup does nothing but mess with the continuity of the team. For the first time all season long, the last few games I see the team starting to get some offensive identity.

can we keep him out for 10 more games and "really" rest those knees, I wanna see what these guys can do without him

I don't think we need him to win, I would rather have him sit til Utah!

it depends what kind of attitude he's going to play with. if its the "andre or me", the "i need to sacrifice less", or the "i need the ball in my hands more" we're just gonna go back to slow iso based bball - which would be a step backwards imo. someone said it before, team orientated offence vs. superstar centric offence. we're definitely in the prior category these days. the good part is seeing 6 people over 10pts, feeding whoever is hot, making the extra passes, cutting and attacking the rim and RUNNING!

I'm excited to have him coming back. He's going to be rested and ready. The team has proven it can compete without him, and Aldridge is quickly building the identity of being "The Man" on the team.

The next step is for McMillan to announce he's going to carefully monitor Roy's minutes to maximize his ability. Repeat the words "Ginobili" as often as possible, making it clear that he starts or comes off the bench depending on what's best for the team.

If we can add a Ginobili-caliber player to what we've already got cooking, this team could still be a second round playoff team.

It's tough, because Roy seems to see himself in the Wade/Kobe/LeBron tier (although he never really belonged there). His ability to excel is now based on him aiming for that lower tier (which, truth be told, may also be a stretch.)
