So it sounds like Roy got exactly what he wanted in the end. The front office caved and gave him his player option. So what some of us thought was posturing and strutting for the other players on the team, turned out to be a empty bluff. How will that impact Aldridge's contract? Will they cave for him too, or will the bring their vengeance on him? I'm inclined to believe he gets 11$ with 10% increases over 5 years. which is 67 million. :dunno:

Re: roy's contract impacting LMA

I surely hope he gets more than Bargs.... that way there is no contention between the players...

Re: roy's contract impacting LMA

Aldridge said it was pretty clear cut that Roy should get what he wants and get the max, and he wouldn't mind taking less than Brandon. Whether he stays true to his words is another thing, but I'm not as worried about LA.

Re: roy's contract impacting LMA

I hope he gets what he wants. I love LA . . . his game, his attitude, the way he handles himself. Roy may be the face of the franchise, but a big man of Aldridge's skill at the age of 24 has all kinds potential behind it.

Of course it's not my money, so easy for me to say.

Did Roy get a PO, or is just a concrete 5 year contract? I hadn't heard one way or another whether the 5th year was a PO.

Yes, he got everything he wanted. The only real question is how the deal is structured because of the pending drop in salary cap......I think

That's what I read in the oregonian.

..you are referring to Barg's salary after he's traded (for Oden) to Portland!

I agree.

Re: roy's contract impacting LMA

What is LA asking for? Was Roy more clear on his expectations?

These two play so well together and compliment each others game -- I sure hope we are able to give LA a deal that makes him happy.

Roy wanted the max... so it's hard to be as clear as that.

What Aldridge wants is good fodder for us to speculate on. He should want more than Bargnani (5 years, $50m) but less than Roy (max... probably five years about $76m, depending on where the max salary lands next season).

That's a lot of wiggle room. It'll be interesting to see where the dust settles.

If I were PA, I'd give LA the same contract as Roy.

Re: roy's contract impacting LMA

55 millions for 5 years sound about right for LaMarcus to me. That's a lot more than what Millsap got, and LaMarcus is not much better (if at all) than Millsap.
55m would be quite a bargain. I would say his market value is similar to what Al Jefferson got (5yr 65m). I guess Big Al could have signed for more but I remember him saying that he was fine with less, so I'd be fine with 70m for LMA. One thing is clear, LaMarcus is NOT a max player (and not just slightly below max). If he was a dominant rebounder, I could maybe see it.

How much is LMA worth?

Got a feeling boy genius is going to play some serious hardball with him after taking forever to max out ROY. I say 5 years, 65 million, and a player option for the 5th year sounds good. 13 million a season should be good. But KP will prolly try and low-ball him with a 5 year 48 million offer with a team option. Hold on to your seat belts this is gonna ugly :politician:

Re: How much is LMA worth?

trust you? kinda like Trust you Roy is gonna be pissed and not sign?

Re: How much is LMA worth?

That's true but I find it refreshing that for once, he started a thread with a post longer than 8-10 words and without they usual "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

I actually agree that 5yr 65m seems fair for LMA (same deal that Al Jefferson signed).

Re: How much is LMA worth?

I'd say 5 years (team option) $60M. Or it might be nice to tag it to 80-85% of what Roy ends up getting, whatever that turns out to be, maybe with incentives. Maybe front-load it so it doesn't hurt our ability to retain decent players down the road.

Whatever Aldridge ends up getting, I expect the negotiations to be a non-issue -- just like Roy's contract negotiations were a non-issue (except in the bizarro world of hyped-out internet Blazers junkies).

I would like that as well. I he's making all-star/all-nba teams every year (or reaching any other significant goal the team feels represents his play), I have no problem paying him like an all-star. The front loading (or making it a flat contract) also makes a ton of sense.

Re: How much is LMA worth?

As much as, probably more than, Roy.

We have some dipwit fans in here :sigh:

Roy said today he let his pride get involved in the process. So, calling it a 'non-issue' at that time seem a bit assumptive, doesn't it?
