@MarAzul is incorrect. "High crimes and misdemeanors" is not some namby pamby, whatever Congress says it is thing. There have been 17 impeachments of federal officials since 1787. Courts have long defined what the term means. It has roots going back to English Common Law, that is why the framers used that particular term.
Essentially, "high crimes and misdemeanors" include allegations of misconduct such as perjury, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, and refusal to obey a lawful order.
The term "misdemeanor" in this sense is not the same as is commonly used today. It has to be a Very Big Deal to impeach and remove someone from office.
