Okay, maybe not "Truth" in all sense of the word, but I have a very strong belief that it's true.
Think about it like this. Let's say you've been working for this company for 4 years and became one of the best. You are the talk of the company and everyone is patting your back, telling you their company wouldn't be where it is without you, etc. Problem is, this company is small and has a much smaller ceiling than the majority of the other companies around you.
All the sudden another of the "Bigger Companies" ask you to come and work for them, giving you an incentive that you will someday have a star position in their company. Something like VP or something, being paid "Top Dollar" as "The Man". But they ask for you to take in less money, with the ideal that eventually they will pay you much more.
So you see this bigger picture and take the job. All the sudden they bring you in, doing "Mail Organization" or "Public Relations", something you have no idea about and can't understand why they even hired you. You do this terribly and they tell you that, because of your "poor learning curve" we are forced to keep you at the smaller salary.
How would you handle this?
