With Bynum going to Orlando.

It's in the League News section on the NBA Gametime app.

Damn. What do you guys think about that? Would you make that deal? Aldridge and Oden would become Lakers. Amazing if Cho pulls it off.

So, does Howard then sign an extension with Portland? If not, what a terrible trade for the Blazers.

Wow, I really would be concerned with that deal. I am too homer to really have a logical response. My only concern would be:

1.) Howard must sign an extension to make it work.

2.) Management needs to fully asses how Roy's knees will hold up.

3.) Will Miller sign an extension

4.) Who will we replace LMA with? Maybe a Laundry type player?

Never trade with the Lakers. Ever.

It will always bite you in the ass.

Reminds of the old song, "Summer time and the rumors are high."

Pau Gasol, who was better than Aldridge until Vanessa Bryant broke up his relationship with his ex-fiance. I'm sure, in another city, he would revert back to his near HOF level play. It's not like he got injured or anything. He was pissed at Kobe.

Wait so the deal would be:

Lakers deal: Gasol and Bynum

Orlando deals: Howard

Portland deals: LMA and Oden?

I was looking at the rumor and said how could this even happen, when you didn't mention Gasol. With Gasol in the mix, it actually works "money wise" now.

I don't think that it's at ALL likely, but it'd be a nice deal for Portland in spite of the fact that I really like both Aldridge and Oden. Getting the best center in the NBA as well as an all-star level power forward... you do that.

Not sure why on earth Orlando would do it, though. Portland would have to send more value to Orlando, I'd think, to make up for the difference between Howard and Bynum.

Probably sending Batum.

Yes, exactly. I did mention Gasol. It's in the title of the thread.

Given that the Blazers would have about $13 mil more incoming salary than outgoing, it's a lock that more bodies would have to be included in such a deal.

Where exactly is this rumor? I'm not seeing anything on NBA gametime.

so Miller/Wes/Wallace/Gasol/Howard?

I mean, I'm trending toward thinking like Maxiep is and greening this whole post out, but if you can get a re-signed Howard and Gasol for just LMA, Oden and Batum?

Nevermind. I don't know why I'm even considering helping out the L*kers. Let them get old and die on their own.

Of course. I'm fine with losing Batum and even Matthews.

Miller/Roy/Crash/Pau/Howard is the most talented starting lineup in the league.

It does kind of show we have some pieces to be in the conversation if Howard wants to force his way out.

The thing I doubt is that Howard wants to play in Portland. He strikes me as a high-publicity type of guy. He wants the bright lights and big city. This is not Duncan or Garnett we are talking about here.

I'd be all over that deal, though. As depressing as it is for me to come to terms with how low my expectations of Oden have become.

Well even if Oden turns out to be close to what people anticipated; Howard is still the #1 center in the league HANDS DOWN. It's not like we are trading to a lower quality. I agree with you on the Howard wanting to play in Portland idea. I mean the ball is in his court and I heard he only wants to play in NY or L.A.

Man, just thinking about it, that would become quite a rivalry between the Lakers and Blazers.

Hmm... IF (and, of course, this is a way-out-there possibility) we traded Aldridge for Gasol, it would not be considered a terrible deal, IMO. Aldridge is younger but less consistent.

Oden and Batum for Howard would be decent, even if Oden had not been injured that regularly. Howard is how good Oden was probably ever going to be (especially after the first surgery) so if we could upgrade from "potentially broken-down Oden" to "fulfilled potential Oden"... I don't think that's a depressing thing to consider.

Still and all: this seems too random. It would seem more likely that LA would prefer to get Howard themselves.

What about giving them an expiring contract like Camby? Would help with their rebuilding. Maybe work something out to pick up Arenas's contract? It's terrible and getting rid of that would help them in the free-agent push of 2012? I don't know.

Yeah, because we've never been rivals before.

Sorry, Speed, but I'm calling bullshit on this rumor.

LMAO! I was just thinking how Aldridge likes being called "LA" and I hated it. In L.A. it would work! Hahahahaha

This does not pass the sniff test one bit. Why would LA trade away Bynum only to not get Howard back in his place?

How about you link us King? I can't find it anywhere. I would have to agree with the other posters about the "sniff of bullshit".

Because Greg Oden is better than both of them!! :MARIS61:
