The Charlotte rumors are funny

Sounds like Larry called Michael again looking for another favor like last year.

Probably.

But one thing is for sure: Larry is scrambling and in way over his head.

scrambling and in way over his head? He has an asset in Crawford that some teams would like. He says give me a first or nothing. Teams probably won't go for it, but I think it's a good stance to take. Augustin is just another short mediocre PG, not doing all that much better than Felton, and is a free agent anyways. I don't see the point in that deal. Plus, sounds like Charlotte wanted to attach crap to him. Get a first, or let him walk. Solid idea. I don't see how it's "amateur hour and insulting", nor how it looks like he is in over his head and scrambling.

Portland has shown in the past the inability to attract big time FA's. No one's fault, but the city is small, wet, and everyone seems to get injured. (don't think players don't have that in the back of their minds when deciding on where to play) So having guys like Camby, Wallace, Felton, Crawford and others who are expiring simply expire for nothing is stupid. They should be dealing those players for picks or young players.

Solid idea? Yeah, if you're a homer. Crawford is not worth a first round pick.

I agree. However, if those options aren't there(nobody willing to give a pick), then they're not there. Two teams need to agree, not just us wanting picks for players.

And maybe he isn't worth a first. But why should he take crap from a team just to trade him then?

Yep, I don't know why we would just let them walk? I can understand if we had some young talent to trade lopsided deals with, but if they all walk, who do we really have left? I suspect we will be overpaying for mediocre talent this summer. We will bitch and moan for another season and live life in mediocracy again.

Have you ever noticed how just moving a few letters around can turn "THIS" into "SHIT"?

I don't know if it is what they are thinking, but I agree with you it should be what they are thinking, and saying. If everyone assumes we are desperate to trade half the team, we are chum in the water. It's important to be firm in getting what we (think we) want and need. We don't want to take back too much salary (i.e. their crap) and we want/need a draft pick. Otherwise, we have a whole lot of expirings. Either way, it's a rebuild.

That ... wouldn't shock me.

He shouldn't. He should be able to sell contending teams on them, however. A GM needs to be a salesperson, and IMO, that's where Larry boy and Chad are in way over their heads.

You mean being greeted by Jay Jensen at the airport isn't good enough?

Brien Berger thinks Portland is setting up for a sale by PA. If so we will have huge salary room, probably no coach or GM. If this happens it may be bad times for Blazer fans, because I doubt we will use the cap space until a sale is complete. That probably means little pursuit of good FA this year. What do you guys think?

What a way to ditch the team -- the year we lose Roy and Oden.

Awesome timing.

A couple of thoughts. For some reason I thought a Larry Miller group was going to buy the team when PA decided to sell? If so, that would suck. Secondly, I don't think it's the case, but a lot of this crap would make sense

I think if Paul Allen remains the owner of this team they're never going to be able to achieve or sustain real success, so you might as well get on with it and take your medicine now.

I think Berger is lame and isn't the most reliable source. Brian and I have now each had thoughts. They're worth the exact same: nothing.

Larry Miller as the owner? Yuck

I'd rather have a different guy from Nike own the team, but it isn't likely to happen

Just think 2009 we were considered a team that would arguably win 5 titles and contend for a decade to the owner selling the team and two potential stars going down. Yikes we fell and fell hard!

Larry Miller....

I'd consider not watching the NBA if Larry Miller is part-owner.
