The VGA's crowned Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as the best game of 2009 last night.

Was it?

Re: Game of the Year

OFF TOPIC....

Did they show footage for UFC Undisputed?

Kimbo Slice!

Re: Game of the Year

Assassins Creed 2 was just too good, in my opinion. Ending was strange, though.

Re: Game of the Year

I have to go with AC2...though COD and Borderlands were both really, really close.

On a sidenote - this was a pretty weak year for gaming, I think.

Re: Game of the Year

I must admit I haven't played any of the games generally thought to be in the top-12 or 15.

Re: Game of the Year

Of all the games listed, I have only played CODMW2, NSMBW, and RE5.

Re: Game of the Year

I'll tell you one game that isn't--Bayonnetta.

That game is a Devil May Cry for kids with severe AD-HD. I felt sick after playing it.

Re: Game of the Year

anyone who has aps3 would know that uncharted 2 wins this by a mile

Re: Game of the Year

I don't own a PS3 and I like Uncharted 2 more than the other games.. I feel like this year lacked good competition. Everything was at its own level, imo. Hopefully next year will be awesome. Oh wait, we get Mass Effect 2, and Halo:Reach Beta, so it will be awesome.

Re: Game of the Year

See, this is how fail the gaming market is now. Most of the big games to look forward to are sequels, or a known series. Lets get something original...

The consumers are to blame also.

Re: Game of the Year

A few games I missed...

Killzone 2
Rachet and Clank
Sims 3

Re: Game of the Year

I loved Batman, sorry, granted I love Uncharted 2 as well.

I played all of those except Dragon Age and Mario on Wii.

Re: Game of the Year

Thing is though, guys, PS3 is just going to win next year again. Heavy Rain, Agent (which is actually being created by the people who made GTA), Gran Turismo 5, and of course, how can anyone forget God of War III.

:notworthy:

And yeah, Uncharted shat on everyone this year.

Re: Game of the Year

What difference does it make what system the game is for? The poll isn't 'Xbox or PS3?'.

Another game I left off the list is Demon Souls which got pretty good reviews and people seemed to like it.

Borderlands was a new series that cropped up this year, and kind of came out of nowhere. It's also a fantastic game to boot.

Re: Game of the Year

Counter-Strike: Source has had more game-time that the whole COD series, I would assume.

CS is one of my all time favorite but they never really advanced, kinda stayed the same year in and year out.

Well, you reach a point of awesomeness where more awesomeness cannot be achieved. Heh.

Also, the main developer of Counter-Strike left Valve and Valve haven't done anything with the game since. They haven't even released a patch for CS:S. I believe they are planning on releasing Counter-Strike: Online which is directed at the Asian market, but I don't know how good it's going to be compared to Source and 1.6.

They could have done something big, bring new maps, weapons, etc.

Game I'm waiting for is Half Life. :ghoti:
