S2 Sim League Draft Discussion

I noticed somebody drafted Ricky Rubio... hes not even in the league... can we draft players out side of the nba?

He's not in the league, but his rights belong to the Timberwolves, so that if he were to come to the league eventually, he'd come to the Wolves.

Would've been a good pick to use much later in the draft, cause it would cost you no money, and if the sim league does last awhile, then maybe next year or the year after he'd come over. Meaning in the later rounds of this draft, you could've stolen a lottery pick.

I thought this early though, it wasn't very choice.

So is Marion back on the market to be drafted or is he a free agent? I'm confused.

Also surrounding overseas players, how does that work roster spot wise?

not that i disagree, but why did they take marion if they didnt want him? there was alot of players avaliable at that point, also...maybe someone else would have grabbed ariza instead of whomever they picked after him...just kinda a clusterfuck, maybe we should have just kept the teams how they were and avoided any of this.

He originally drafted Jamison because nobody had the Wizards? who had drafted him as their only player. He was told he couldn't have Jamison so he took Marion.

So, now I have Conley, Mayo, and Gasol. If Lebron signs with the Grizz this offseason, that's my team.

overseas players wont count as one of your 15 spots until they are signed.

im thinking we will put a 100 million dollar per team cap on this inaugural draft, should be plenty of money to get started with. the highest payroll in the nba is the lakers at 91 million.

100 is too high....I seriously thought something along the lines of 70-80 in an inaugural season was good. It gives us freedom, but at the same time doesn't make us go apeshit with money.

I thought it should be around $70M. Current NBA cap space is $57M, soft cap is in the $70M range. $70M should be plenty to get started.

Always liked your thinking.

Also for the record, I'm ONLY running the draft. So that DD and others have this time to not worry about the draft, and rather put everything else together. So...yeah don't expect concrete answers from me, unless its semi-draft related.

We should start finalizing it though. It will be a factor in how people round out their rosters.

i think 70 would work except some teams already have 65 million with 5 players...

Actually how about we use the average salary cap of each team in the league every season?

In the NBA, they have a LT cap and teams that want to win go over it. They are penalized by having only MLE and having to do 125% salary swap type deals.

Looks like some people are going to be losing some good players on their team :D

70 isnt going to work, its too late to tell someone, "okay you need to draft 10 minimum players now", maybe we can meet somewhere in the middle though. hadnt really thought about it, but maybe 90 would work.

maybe 90 max/50 min, ill decide by tonight

of course people who have drafted a bunch of rookies will argue for a low max, no big surprise.

You're doing a great job buddy.

mhm. but people should have also made sure they didn't go crazy drafting players with huge contracts.

"think you'd make a better gm?", right?
