So threads get closed by mods and members now get banned


....gee seems like this group has come full circle...so why did you all leave BBF again???

I never got to be part of bbf. Plus, I needed to pad my "Moderator Action" count, and it seemed like a better idea than just merging random threads and editing members' posts.

Then again, I've never been a very good mod.
 
I know you werent at bbf and I know what you did now reflects the majority opinion here....Im just now surprised thats the majority opinion here now
 
I have to agree with DaRizz. Why not just move his thread to OT instead of locking it on the Blazer page?

Anyhow, my response to Treaty_of_Batum, and his calling me out, is this:

I totally agree with you. I'm trying to carry conversations; unfortunately, many of the same posters who personalized their posts to MIXUM now do the same with me (Burger flipper, troll, etc.). I've cut back on carrying on with the endless "banter", so what you see now are threads derailed, and then mostly ending rather abruptly.

The board is less fun now, and the people who demanded MIXUM's ban are still posting in the style and manner that they were prior to MIXUM's banning.

I also wonder where all of the "I'll post more now that MIXUM is gone" people are these days. That seems like a lie at this point.

Why would you be surprised? The only difference was on BBF, the bannings were because of the nutjob liberal Hap/Dan who couldn't handle legitimate political criticisms of Barry Obama. Here, the difference seems to be that a small and vocal minority seem to have the ears of the mods. As of now, there is more action on the OT forum than on the Blazer board. I know I've found another place to discuss the Blazers; the OT board here is still fun, though.

It's pretty obvious based on the posters who no longer post here that there has been some mini-migration to somewhere else. It's too bad; I like this place. IMO, it's not MIXUM getting banned that did it, it was his behavior to push it to that point. People can troll a little and it doesn't really have an impact; when the trolling becomes central to the forum, it ruins the entire place. People stay away because of the trolling and others go away when a voice is silenced. It was the pushing to that point when the trolling became primary that trashed this board. Too bad. I miss a lot of the posters that have left.
 
Maxiep hit the nail on the head. I know I do not post often elsewhere because of this. It gets old when no matter what is said, someone has to become abusive, rude or obnoxious, and claim that they are just trying to spur open debate.
 
Without Mixum, pretty much all critical discussion of the team has died off. Even the game threads are thin and stale.

Exiling the Rainmaker seems like a bad business decision if nothing else.
 
I was never part of the BBF forum but I've listened to many of you talk about it and it sounded like in the end it was a giant cluster fuck. I'm still pretty new at this mod stuff and I came on right before Mixum was finally banned. In the end I believe it was the right thing to do. Sure Brian closed a thread today but that was the first thread closed in well over a month. I can't remember the last time I had to edit someone's post because of personal insults. From what I understand one person banned and one thread closed is a far cry from what BBF was. If people don't like how this forum is run please feel free to talk to me. I promise to listen and more importantly I'll bring your complaints and concerns to the attention of all of the staff here even if I don't agree with them.

And to be perfectly honest since Mixum was banned Ed O has pretty much disappeared. Myself and the few remaining mods have been kind of winging it. I'm trying to post more articles and content in the forum and have been trying to make things more fan friendly and fun. I really don't know what to do and will be the first to admit that I suck as a mod. I feel bad to hear that people have left because it makes me feel like I'm failing this community.

Anyway, I just thought I'd post my 2 cents.

It does feel like BBF, but BBF was a perfectly fine place until everyone (admin included) freaked out over one incident and things went downhill from there. It's a good example of how things can devolve from complete stability to total disarray swiftly.

So, my point is that this place feels like BBF because BBF was a good place, too. Who knows when the next blowup will happen? It hasn't happened yet.
 
we should all post pictures of our cocks. that would make this place not like BBF.

You aren't doing anything wrong. We have a Laker fan and some loser vegan deli owner babbling on about the demise of the board when really the posts are more worthwhile. No more scrolling through redundant posts about how this players sucks, the Blazers are going to be lucky to make the playoffs and how the season ended in late November.

The only people that want Mixum back are the ones who enjoy shit being stirred in the first place.
