The only reason I may except the return of AJ is because it would be a near impossibility for ANYONE to pitch as bad as CC has.

Papsmear is not one of the pitchers mentioned & understandably so since he's not a starter. However the others that are mentioned as possibilities are........

Bronson Arroyo (Diamondbacks)
Mark Buerhle (Blue Jays) Don't see that happening, same division.
Jason Hammel (Cubs)
Cliff Lee (Phillies)
Francisco Liriano (Pirates)
Justin Masterson (Indians)
Jeff Samardzija (Cubs)

The bigger question is, who would we have to give up to get any of these guys? And would it be worth it? I think how this kid Chase Whitley performs over the next few starts might have a baring on things.

...some of the players would be pretty much a salary dump and considering how much they make, their current team couldn't ask for a whole lot in return...and the Yanx do have some talent in the minors.

...some of the other players might become available only if their teams are well back in the standings at the trade deadline...you can add KC and James Shields in that group too.

I'm really pulling for those younger pitchers to step it up. Offense will have to do so as well, I believe McCann is on the verge of getting his bat in order. The man has been a God send to this pitching staff.

I think your right on the bullseye Michael. McCann has had a very good career with Atlanta. It's only a matter of time, before he puts the AL together, now he's seen the Pitcher's a few times over.
A 7 time NL All Star in 10 years, well earned and deserved. Once the Honey Moon period ends soon, I would expect Brian to increase his liftetime batting numbers.

In time, I don't think the Yanks Brass or Fans, will regret obtaining McCann as a backstop. After all his hero is Munson, if he can only emulate and carry a bit of Thurman's swagger, he will be ok. But then it takes a Giant Immortal to carry Munson's work ethic.....2nd to none, Munson was.....

...yeah, but if nothing else, McCann's slow start gives Cashman haters a reason to crawl out of their holes...and they're so cute.

...^^^Hamels too, possibly...he still has a ton left on his contract and he's gone backwards this year.

...Lee has a high salary too but not for as long as Hamels...and at least Lee has been consistent.

...AJ only has this year under contract and next year is a mutual option.

...AJ and Lee make the most sense, because, well, among other things, they're both from Arkansas.

Ah Arkansaw...."Land of Opportunity-Arkansaw" (man that Glen Campbell song drove me nuts in the day)....or as the only folks in the nation say- Are-Kansas...guess those Jay Hawks think they annexed the other state....

I'm leaning heavily on Chase Whitely, I was impressed with his first big league start. I do hope he continues in the same fashion.

Looking at his Minor League numbers a few weeks ago, Chase was the ONE constant SP who's ERA and numbers stood out like a sore thumb. A .8-- ERA over 28 innings. Not a whole lot of IP, but hell it looked better than anyone else in the Farm System, and better than most in the Bronx...Only time will tell, and I wish Whitley success.

As for Papsmear, he needs to find a new job, a gynecologist maybe.

...matts, I do it right...they'll never find the body. :devilwink:

Your on my friend.....no body...no foul....:devilwink:

Tom has yet to find out, his snipers are mere moonlighting furloughed, Pinkerton guards, who can't pass their eye exams....They're not certified to carry or use squirt guns. Only arrows with those sticky rubber ends....

So your on, coast is clear....

Vaporize A-Roid, or Gator Dinner? oops, sensitive info.

...nah, I'll set up my wood chipper next to my pond...it'll blow dime-sized chunks into the pond and the fish will take care of any evidence.

...ARod will then become fish shit within 3-4 days...wait, he already is.

One we already tried & he sucked. One is probably one of the most hated players in Yankee history & IMO a MAJOR dickhead. So I'll take the other.

that other is far too expensive though...

I said it before but its worth repeating, you can't judge anyone after only 100-150 ABs, people need to stop with the chicken little mentality.

I will officially state here that I think CC's career is officially over... he might make attempts to come back, but I don't think he'll ever pitch a quality inning again...
