Sacralicious Notion: Trade Lillard to the Lakers

And if they don't break right. or someone suffers an injury, like ACL tear, or Microfracture....
You just lost both players for nothing. + got a player that might not come back from said injuries.
Which leads to front office turnover because they went the way of trading Lillard, letting Aldridge walk.

Houston traded for it, OKC has got lucky. But for as many good players they've chosen. They've picked just as many scrubs as everyone else.
People think the draft is how you make teams. But if you look at the T-wolfs, how many years running have they been in the lotto? How many times have they made the playoffs after getting those high picks?
Draft is a crapshoot. I'd rather have proven talent than "what if this player is a stud". Besides, don't the Blazers have that with Batum? and had that with Fernandez? Oden?
Just to list a few names.

Which is why I said you only consider it if you know LMA is leaving. If he is staying, you go a completely different direction.

You would be better off suggesting another topic instead of taking the Dame out of Rip City. Sending him to LAL is like offering your sister to a street gang

Sheesh, I said I wouldn't do it, didn't I?

But I'm bookmarking this thread in case Russell is the Black Jerry West and Lillard turns into fat Raymond Felton.

Don't know what "sacralicious" means but the Blazers are not going to trade Damian Lillard to the Lakers. Why would they trade an All Star and the most popular player for a long time, the visible face of the franchise, for the leavings of a lotto team?

Because its the off season and were bored with the LMA trades so might as well make one up for lillard because we can only remember how badly he sucked at the end of the year and of course that has to mean he will play like that for the rest of his career.
I'm pretty forgiving with players but if LMA choose the Lakers or Lillard, which wont in even a million years happen, gets traded there i'm buying a jersey and burning it.

Did you do that with Kersey's?

Shit, Kersey died and Grant developed Parkinson's. I never made the connection. No wonder Steve Nash's career tanked so precipitously.

Wow, thank God this didn't happen (not that it was ever likely to). I will deny ever even suggesting it. I have no doubt that Russell will be good, and he's still very young, but he's not exactly looking great in Summer League. He looks a step slow and his shot is awful. Right now he's Kendall Marshall.

Forgive me, oh Damian, I was just kidding!

(Enjoying the Lakers suckage, though. This was supposed to be a dominating SL team and it's been blissfully underwhelming.)

Just typing these words makes me feel dirty. But watching D'Angelo Russell, it's clear he's going to be pretty special. He's also tall enough to play SG. Which means he could play alongside CJ. Which Damian can't (really).
It's pretty much a given (supposedly) that the Wolves will take Towns. Also Flip Saunders has reacted pissily to the suggestion that he might trade Rubio, so it looks like even if they didn't take Towns, they wouldn't take Russell. So Russell will be there at the Lakers' pick. Now, the Lakers, being the Lakers, probably would prefer a star player to a rookie - I mean, that's what they feel entitled to. So they'd probably do it. Would you?

(Not saying I would, especially if Damian reads this board [or somebody tells him about it], just wondering if people think Russell is that good. Looks good on video, but lots of people do. Anyway, discuss.)

You're a dirty whore. Dirty. Dirtier than Mags on a full-on trip through SF on the tip of every streetwalker one could encounter in SF.

And Blake's game turned to shit... Wait a minute?!?! His game was always shit!

Rasta you are hereby removed from this forum for even suggesting such a thing

According to the so-called-experts. Didn't Russel have the highest chance to be a bust in this draft? I think that's what I remember hearing.

Well considering Dame is clearly going to walk in 5 years when he's an UFA, I can see why Rasta logically would want to trade him to guarantee we get some new young talent before we get no value in return.
